Waaaah. I was 45 last month. Is this the menopause starting?

How can it be? I've not had a period for nearly 8 weeks.

What age did your periods start stopping? What do I do? Do I try to see a doc or just wait for whatever comes next.... waaaah

Same here. I'd not had a period for over 8months. Did numerous Pregnancy tests all negative. I'm currently flooded off my feet. I'm also 45. I'd say thats about right, though isn't it. I wouldn't say 45 is too young to be going through the change.

Check you areb't pregnant and if not, yes, it probably is. If you have no other symptoms why would you see a dr?

DinosaurDiana · 09/05/2021 07:33

Lucky you, I had 19 days between my periods recently !!
I’ll happily swap with you.

My friend's first sign (at 41) was being very hormonal and not feeling like herself but she didn't recognise it until about a year later when her periods stopped and the sweating started. They had also got lighter the year before they stopped and she had a change in everyday discharge too. We thought she was ill and didn't even think it was menopause coming neither did her GP. I remember her going back and forward to the GP and being told she was depressed for ages.

ReliableWiFi · 09/05/2021 11:06

I was 46 when my periods went weird - a period every 2 weeks 🙄. I'd always understood that the beginning of menopause signalled fewer periods not more, so that was a total shock.
Check that you're not pregnant and if you need some reassurance give your GP a call.

Were you vaccinated before the 8 weeks? Some women have seen changes in their cycles post vaccination.

WeeMadArthur · 09/05/2021 11:10

@DinosaurDiana me too! I look back fondly to the days of a 28 day cycle. It’s been slowly shortening for a couple of years and like this for over a year, I wonder how long I lasts? I’m 47.

WeeMadArthur · 09/05/2021 11:11

@MoChridhe I had an unusually heavy period after my first jab, couldn’t leave the house, then back to normal

I’m 51 and still having regular full-blooded periods !
I’ve had enough now and am waiting for a coil. Hopefully it will make them magically disappear, or at least make them lighter.

I had my last period in Feb. I’m 56 ☺️

maddiemookins16mum · 09/05/2021 13:23

I also had my 1st vaccine around that time, I’d been as regular as clockwork until then.

Blankiefan · 09/05/2021 16:51

Yes. I had my vaccine at start of April (just before I'd expected to have had my "missed" period). I'll hold out some hope it's that!

I'm regular as clockwork (mid-40s) but after my vaccine my period was a few days late (very unusual for me - I thought I was pregnant!) so it might be that?
