I think the school are due OFSTED and are out to prove children are catching up.
As of last week we have as a weekly expectation:
Activities on two different maths sites
Activities on a spelling and grammar site
12 spellings to memorise
A times table to practice
A comprehension sheet
Expectation of keeping a reading diary 5 days out of seven.
They are 8. All their hobbies and clubs are just starting up again.
I want to support the school, I really do. I’m a teacher, (secondary,) myself and I have no patience with parents making excuses for their little cherubs but this seems excessive. Perhaps in year six in preparation for SATS and secondary, but year 3?!
This is a voluntary-controlled, state, village primary. How does this compare, please?
