Looking for a movie that would entertain fussy teens, 9yo and myself.

Non cartoon as it’s quite nice we can watch actual films now and we have done Disney and Pixar to death.

Previous films that have been enjoyed.

The Help
Interstella
Miss Potter
Pursuit of Happiness
Goodnight Mr Tom
Lion

I’ve looked at Bohemian Rhapsody twice but feel might be a bit much for youngest however would love to find something with a music theme as all 3 girls musical.

Finding Ohana
Fighting with my family
Daddy’s home
Wimpy kid the Long haul
Any of the jumanji films

itsgettingwierd · 08/05/2021 17:53

Agree with Paddington.

Both films had me and ds in hysterics!

itsgettingwierd · 08/05/2021 17:54

Oh and Daddy's home and the sequel are also really funny.

Another vote for cool runnings. Wonder is a lovely movie too.

Twatterati · 08/05/2021 17:54

Bridge to Terabithia was always a hit with mine at similar ages.

MrsTerryPratchett · 08/05/2021 17:56

Pitch Perfect or Footloose. But Pitch Perfect really.

You can thank me later.

MrsTerryPratchett · 08/05/2021 17:56

It's not entirely age appropriate but it's great.

orangejuicer · 08/05/2021 17:58

Mary Poppins?

afaloren · 08/05/2021 17:58

Love and Monsters on Netflix is a great family adventure film.

Fighting with my Family

Kittytheteapot · 08/05/2021 18:01

We used to do a film night on a Saturday night. Films my then teens enjoyed: the Star Wars films, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones, The Princess Bride, Shrek (but you said not cartoon).

I recently saw The Great Escape was on Netflix and watched it all the way through for the first time in decades. It was always on at Christmas in the 1970s. I'd say it was pretty much suitable for a 9 year old. I was certainly about that when I watched it. The old classics are classics for a reason.

School of Rock is class!!

Pbbananabagel · 08/05/2021 18:27

Dead Poets Society
Patch Adams
Temple Grandin
Little Women (the original)

whiteroseredrose · 08/05/2021 18:37

Our DC liked the Italian Job (Michael Caine) and the earlier James Bonds with Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan.

whiteroseredrose · 08/05/2021 18:38

Yes. Cool Runnings was a hit too.

Roselilly36 · 08/05/2021 18:52
