How long do you have to notify a bank of someones death

My mother died this morning i lived with her the house is in her name and bills were in her name idlike to move i aim on moving in a couple of weeks but as selfish and niave as it sounds im concerned about contacting her bank just now to notify rhem shes passed away inase all her direct debits get stopped and im left sitting here qithout gas or ele tricy for example i dont want the bills put in my name as ill be moving soon is there something like a grace period for notifying bank of apersons death

Surely while you are still there you will need to pay for the utilities you are using? Is it rented or is there a mortgage? Who will be dealing with any will/her affairs?

The house was owned by mum it was paid in full she paid utilities they were in her name

You can't notify them until you've been issued with the death certificate. None of her direct debits will be stopped - there's no reason why they would. There's no rush, in other words.

If you contact the utility companies they should draw up the final bills which can be paid separate to the DDs. I’m not aware of a specific length of time you should contact a bank in, just a ‘reasonable’ period of time.
