Sat up in bed and looked back at the pillow. On the white pillow next to mine was an ENORMOUS black spider. A house spider probably.

I remained calm but can't stop thinking about it today. Was it in my bed all night!?

Had to tell someone.

Thanks for ruining my day

0blio · 07/05/2021 14:41

Thank you so much for sharing. My Dad always told me spiders NEVER get in bed with you because they can't stand the heat. I believed that until today 🕷

gamerchick · 07/05/2021 14:42

Yeah there's a lot of them, I don't know if it's the wonky weather or not though, isn't it unusual to see females this time of year. Nothing in my life will match the time I wiped my arse with one though.

ShirleyPhallus · 07/05/2021 14:43

I understand that spiders come in to beds because they’re looking for warm, damp places to lay their eggs. If you notice it on your pillow, try and wash your mouth out ASAP because it’s possible to have laid eggs in your mouth overnight. A strong mouthwash would do it, or some vodka.

Christ 😭

AngeloMysterioso · 07/05/2021 14:47

I had a fucking huge spider crawl across the back of my neck when I was in bed once.

Tempusfudgeit · 07/05/2021 14:47

Same happened to my Mum, but it was a dead blackbird that her cat had generously left there in the night ...

Moltenpink · 07/05/2021 14:49

What kind of hellish thread have I stumbled into? Shock

I was thinking the same thing but that blackbird comment has made me busmrst out laughing
Treeballarae · 07/05/2021 14:54

Spiders don't like the smell of lavender, cloves or mint apparently. So you could add some essential oils to a spray bottle and spray round your bedroom. I resorted to sleeping with a bag of cloves last September when the house was full of spiders.

Why did I open this..

PoTheDog · 07/05/2021 14:59

I once got out of bed, to find a humongous black squashed spider where I had been lying!

DoItAfraid · 07/05/2021 15:00

This thread! 😱🤷🏽‍♀️

KaleSlayer · 07/05/2021 15:01

There’s worse things people you could wake up to in your bed. 😬😂
Hope spider is still alive. 🕷

FizzyPink · 07/05/2021 15:02

I once felt a rustling under my pillow, assumed I was still partly dreaming until a little brown mouse ran out from under it and jumped onto the floor.

I’m not in the slightest bit bothered about spiders but I’m absolutely terrified of mice Envy

timegoesbysoslowly · 07/05/2021 15:02

I woke up once to find a spider crawling up the inside of my thigh.

Warm, damp places eh?

Thank fuck I woke up!

We had a huge spider once that would come out after 10pm when the house was quiet and run across our lounge or dining room. My husband and I saw it several evenings following.
One day I happened to mention it when my kids were around. My son (about 6 at the time) was concerned it would come into his bed at night. I patiently explained that to do that, the spider would have to find and climb the stairs, turn into the correct bedroom and then climb all the way up into his cabin bed and in the unlikely event that it did all that, then it was a pretty stupid spider as my son is far bigger than it was and the spider was likely to get squashed!
It was only the next day while making my son's bed, that I found that very same spider, now squashed dead. I didn't dare tell him for years! 🙈

One ruined my wedding night. Old cold castle bedroom. Decided to consummate the marriage. Dh got on top, sheets off, and on the white sheet beside me something was coming towards me. Big, brown, house spider. Jesus fuck! Dh caught it and put it down the ONLY toilet. Thanks, dh, no toilet for me now.

WeCameToDance · 07/05/2021 15:22

I’m amazed nobody has asked for clarification on the person who wiped there arse with one! Wait.. what?! How!?

Thecatsawinner · 07/05/2021 15:25

I heard scratching in the night? I was worried that it was a spider, now I’m scared that it was a spider

Where do people get this shite information from? Spiders are highly sensitive to heat and vibrations, it's highly unlikely a spider would even make it into your mouth let alone lay eggs.

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 07/05/2021 15:49

Many years ago I found an enormous squashed spider in my bed one morning which I must have rolled on and flattened in the night Shock
