Anybody else catching every cold since lockdown has ended?

Since the DC went back to school I seem to have caught every single sore throat and sniffle which is unusual for me.
During 2020 I think I had one cold, if that.

Anybody else feeling the same or is this just me?

We currently have very heavy colds/coughs after having a lovely cold free 2020. I was wondering if it was just me - obviously not.

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 07/05/2021 16:02

Me too! I never catch stuff usually!

FrancesFlute · 07/05/2021 16:54

My DS started nursery this January for the first time and has caught four colds so far. And I've caught each one (DH hasn't!) Hoping it's good in the long run but during covid times it's a pain as we've had to get him tested and isolate each time!

Yep!

Thanks for your replies, I was beginning to think there was something seriously wrong with my immune system!
Possibly we are being bombarded with virus' we haven't met for over a year and especially with DC being back at school that's why we are so susceptible?
Still, annoying.

I currently have an absolute bitch of a cold/ cough

My youngest caught it from school.

It's absolutely hideous.

@FrancesFlute
Yes! Dh has escaped every single time! So unfair as I have been working as an HCP and he has been sat on his arse wfh...

This winter is meant to be dreadful for colds as people have lost immunity. Maybe you will get off lighter? We haven't had any yet in our house but DD has an amazing immune system and the rest of us are doing much less. Not looking forward to the winter!

Gwenhwyfar · 07/05/2021 20:33

I'm still on forced wfh and no children, so no, but I do think it's not good to go for a year not having a chance to build our immune systems.

Sneezing my head off here

Since DS (8) went back to school he’s been off sick 3 times with colds. I’ve had 2 colds and 2 ear infections. We are so ill again this week.

The worst bit is every time we get a temp = COVID test, all negative.

ZednotZee · 07/05/2021 20:48

@WillYouDoTheFandango
Totally agree, I'm fortunate that I have a box of LFD teats at home due to my work so can reasonably rule out covid each time, but its still a pain to think each time 'Is this it?'
Why do men seem to dodge these things? Answers on a postcard please...
