Christmas in July If you are after a warm day and turkey. I’m sure some of the supermarkets still have them in their freezers.

Wiglio · 07/05/2021 13:23

Wouldn’t bank on Turkey at all this year considering the state it’s in at the moment

H1978 · 07/05/2021 13:51

Depends where in turkey you travel. We went to Antalya in October and it was about 27 but the outside pools were still cold. We were lucky to have an indoor pool though.

Istanbul would probably be a bit cooler but okay if you’re only sightseeing.

anothercovidxmas · 07/05/2021 13:53

@Aprilshowersandhail beat me to it Grin

You couldn't pay me to go to Turkey, let alone as a back up just to get away...

FizzyPink · 07/05/2021 13:56

We did Olu Deniz a few years ago in October half term. It was warm enough for sunbathing most days and then rained for 3 days we were there. Temperature wise it was probably low 20s but pretty grey

LesLavandes · 07/05/2021 14:05

Did Bodrum on Oct half term. Weather was not great at all. We had a lot of rain and thunderstorms and only one restaurant in hotel was open and pool freezing.

Bodrum was also closing down for Winter

oppositeofbubbly · 07/05/2021 14:05

I've heard that October is the end of the season and some of the hotels/activities start to close down. So as well as the weather I'd look in to that- I've heard stories about hotels not offering the full range of food/drinks/activities in the final couple of weeks of the season and some attractions closing early if there are not many tourists around, The Turkey forum on Tripadviser is really good for advice from people who have experienced it

Egghead81 · 07/05/2021 14:08

Hooray booked Antalya.

It’s his full covid cover.
I have been refunded by same holiday company within minutes of the holidays being cancelled so i trust them.

Oooks bloody gorgeous
We coped with disappointment of cancelled holidays already so we will do again but I suspect that it will be fine.
And got a lovely Uk break to look forward to

Thanks so much

I cannot comment on the weather, but it's not an option I would ever consider. Turkey is run by someone almost as bad as Mr Johnson.

MrsPerfect12 · 07/05/2021 14:16

We went to Turkey for the first time in Oct 2019 and it was lovely. We stayed in a beautiful hotel in Antalya. It was roughly 25 deg. The kids pool was fine temps but the big pool was freezing. I'd go again in October.

Egghead81 · 07/05/2021 14:30

What hotel please?

I’m also in Antalaya

Politics? I’m taking my two children to a beautiful hotel with a water park and an exquisite beach.

Quite honestly - I don’t give a fig about anything else other than watching my children relish the water park and considering what book I’m going to save In order to enjoy whilst sun bathing.

That’s the truth. And I’m not the least bit ashamed Grin

It will be quiet as it’s pretty much end of season last week of October

Egghead81 · 07/05/2021 14:31

Week before main Uk half term (private school so we get two weeks)
Not quiet according trip advisor reviews

I went to Turkey once in late October. It was cold and rainy.

I saw your thread!

What year did you go? One of the posters on your thread recommended a great site that lists temperatures for every day for previous years.

I checked last year and year before and dates I’m going (leave on 14th for 6nigbts... it was 26-29 degrees)

What part did you go?

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 07/05/2021 15:34

Gosh, let me think what year... maybe 2009 or 2010

We went to Marmaris

amusedbush · 07/05/2021 15:35

We went to Antalya in mid October 2019 and it was great. The hotel was winding down slightly so it wasn't really crowded, plenty of sunbeds, attentive staff and the weather was 27 - 32 degrees and clear blue skies the whole week.

AnyFucker · 07/05/2021 15:51

We were the very last week of the season....last few days of Oct and 1st few days of Nov

We had driving rain and temps of about 16deg. You might well be lucky as we were told it had been glorious the week before

Yes checked historical data and seems that rather suddenly - last week of October things can deteriorate and certainly November. Whereas before then, around Antalya, seems fairly consistent sun and mid twenties.

I was able to sort all the trip advisor reviews by month, and overall consensus mentioned weather in half term being lovely and I’m going even earlier than that... I am excited!

Can’t wait to tell the children now!

I am going to check prices tomorrow to see if announcement today has impact and it was an absolute bargain of a price I paid!
