Anyone know what is happening to Picturehouse Cinemas?

Have they gone bust?
Are they re-opening with new owners?

I have 13 tickets on my membership card Sad

Nothing on the website, no sign of any S London ones re-opening.

Anyone?

I have Googled for news, can’t find anything.

They’re owned by Vue aren’t they? So not a stand-alone small chain. Did you look at their Facebook page, as that seems to be updated regularly, in addition their website also says they’ll be opening soon... (unless you mean a different company?!)

I have been checking this week and no news of when they will re-open. Unlike some of the other cinema chains, for example Curzon and Everyman. So you might be able to see a film on the 17th, though that does not help use the tickets you have.

Yes, just surprised that if they are opening, as allowed, on the 17th there isn’t more info, or e mails to members etc.

And I don’t want to lose the cost of my membership and tickets if they have gone bust Sad

York one appears to be properly closed ..for good

shewalkslikerihanna · 08/05/2021 13:48

We have Vue up the road about 5 miles out of town
£4-99 all seats
All newly refurbed with a bar reopened for a few weeks before lockdown again
It’s going to be hard for the york picturehouse to compete, although it had a great bar, eaterie and outside terrace overlooking the river, and a comedy club down below
The last time I passed it it looked like the floor was up as if it was getting refurbed
Who knows?

Well it definitely doesn’t look like they’re going bust so I wouldn’t worry about that!

The chain my husband works for have not yet released their opening details either but they definitely are reopening! But as with so many places people have been furloughed for months etc, it can just take a little while to get going again especially for the smaller chains.

Thanks @MarcelineMissouri , that has perked me up! Our other localish options specialise in sticky carpets and patrons who think that multi tasking by making and taking calls during a film is a good use of time. I love my Picturehouse experience, craft beer, Judes Ice Cream and lots of deals and discounts for members to make it a bit more affordable. I am a cinema snob, can’t pretend otherwise Blush

@UpTheJunktion I’m sure you’ve already seen this but they are reopening on 19th May.
