Just to say to anyone who has had to consider making an appeal a decision made by the DWP, please do it!!!!!

Just had my son's PIP award confirmed after a mandatory reconsideration. He went from being assessed and awarded no points to receiving the enhanced rate after I challenged the result. They claimed they couldn't find his DLA evidence despite it being paid for the past 4 years. I used that as evidence, for every section, that they couldn't deny his award as they had lost personal medical information that was confidential.

Ask for help from your Council, they should have a Benefits Appeal Officer or team, they are invaluable for advice and their name on the form as a representative carries a lot of power!

Send any evidence, it can even be a statement from people who can explain how the disability impacts the family or individual.

Glad you've got it sorted. Very pleased for you both. I bet that's a huge weight off your shoulders. Are they going back date it for him

Congratulations on winning the appeal. Also I would state to them exactly how their poor record keeping and inability to keep confidential documents safely is somehow your problem?
