Taken a few weeks to to get to the bottom of it .

Could coeliac be an issue?

Only the pasta contains gluten, so rice and potatoes wouldn’t be causing this reaction if it is a gluten/coeliac issue.

You need to take this to your GP to be investigated.

Rice and potatoes don't contain gluten. It sounds like some sort of carb intolerance but only a proper test at the doctor can help diagnose.

Rice and potatoes wouldn't effect a coeliac, only pasta, as that's the only one of those containing wheat/gluten. Is there anything else specific which is making you think this might be coeliac?

Coeliac would be pasta, bread, biscuits, cakes, many cereals... so I'd say unlikely if he's eating many of those things without a problem.

And as pp says, rice and potatoes don't contain gluten, so those causing a problem suggests not coeliac.

Def worth checking it with a GP, as whatever it is it doesn't sound nice or normal.

It's important that he eats plenty of gluten before being tested for coeliac disease. If he goes gluten free before the test it may come back negative.

I'd be seeing the GP for advice before assuming it is coeliac disease.
