It appears everyone else, especially on MN, has a holiday booked or planned for this year.

Am I the only one who has no holiday booked or planned?

Feeling very down about it Sad

Nothing planned here. DP lost his job due to Covid and I’ve had a massive pay cut.
We can’t afford it,and if we could it would be too much hassle.

Sorry to hear that @CimCardashian Flowers and I agree regarding it being too much hassle.

We haven’t, we were talking about holidays this morning and agreed that we’d rather wait until there are less (and ideally no) restrictions so that we could properly enjoy a holiday.

No, nothing planned and don’t intend to this year. We will look at it again next year. We’ll enjoy some downtime and find other things to do this year . Doesn’t feel safe enough yet to be travelling around.

We’ve got a week in Cornwall in the May half term but nothing for the summer. We won’t be going abroad, cba with masks on planes etc (I’m not an anti masker before anyone gets the wrong idea, it’s just not an appealing choice) and can’t risk any sudden last minute changes to quarantine rules when we get back.
Kind of sad about it but at the same time we’ve made the decision for the right reasons for us.

Absolutely nothing planned, I don’t mind either, I’d rather wait and go when everything is a bit less up in the air. We’ll do day trips out instead.

Was going to say me but in fact I have a weekend in a cottage booked in June, and ds has a Duke of Edinburgh trip booked. Actually not very bothered. I've only ever had one holiday I wasn't absolutely delighted to come home from.

@bloodywhitecat Flowers hope you have an amazing day.

OP. We haven't been on holiday for 14 years. I've been saving for the last 4 years and hope to go away to Wales in 2024. I hope you can get away soon

Nothing booked and not really bothered by it. If it turns out to be safe we do some fun local outings or nearby overnights. There are plenty of things we have never done or would like to do again and I won’t feel so guilty knowing my germs are staying local. Plus this past year has shown us the beauty of saving money on the travel part and being able to spend more on the actual experience.

No and won't be going away this year. I would find it too stressful and risky. Hopefully next year!

@Insert1x20p

Nope, live in an Asian city state with a 21 day inbound hotel quarantine, so to go on vacation I have to then spend 21 days in a hotel room when I get back with the entire family. Um, no thanks Grin. I envy you Boris' slightly laissez faire border policy.

You won't envy the inevitable increase in Covid!

You certainly aren't alone, no holiday booked here, not even a weekend away in the UK.
I can't understand why anyone would want to book anything when things are so uncertain re. going abroad, and when UK is so expensive in order to recoup the money lost over the last year....
It's been such a rollercoaster year, I shall just be happy with time off, a chance to meet up with folks and go to a country pub and so on. There's plenty of time for holidays another year, what's all the rush?

Nope. We had a UK break last summer that actually managed to successfully go ahead. However, we didn't know until the week before whether or not we would be able to. We almost rearranged it for April this year Hmm.

After the fiasco of last year, DH and I decided not to bother trying to book anything this year.

Woo hoo - hope you have a splashy time.

Please don't tell my car, I couldn't stand the sulking!!

No, not bothered this year- too much faff/uncertainty and costs are probably high (not looked so that's an assumption). But we don't have an 'official' annual holiday anyway - they're usually fairly last second and not very regular!

Nope, the prices are crazy...like puppy prices so waiting til it all settles.

I haven't had a holiday for over 12 years..
My work is seasonal, running from March to October with peak manic-ness from now until September.. No time or cash for holidays, and i dont fancy going away somewhere by myself (single)

Thanks for the replies everyone. Good to know I'm not alone.

Definitely not alone!

What's stopping you booking one?

Finances/Covid/Leave/something else?

For me its not knowing what's happening with work over the summer (and not wanting to poke a sleeping bear with that).

Covid - I think where I normally go (in France) isn't in too bad a way -at the moment. But the main event I go forward has already been cancelled and the other things I enjoy won't be the same this year (big market/busy bar/fab cafes/river etc as they'll either try some ineffectual social distancing or I'll just be too worried anyway. I've been in the local hospital (nearby town, decent size) & I would not like to be in there with Covid.

I don't want to be standing in the airport for hours on end. I thought about driving, but I imagine the ferries will be as much of a nightmare.

& I don't want to get stuck there if anything changes.

If I get some clarity with work I might see if there's any accommodation left in the U.K. that I don't have to rob a bank to afford!! Really just because I miss the sea so much and I don't even have a garden!!

I can't even camp anymore as my knees are fucked and I can't get up & down from the ground (not even a camp bed which I'd buy if it was an option).

We aren't going anywhere as I am 6 months pregnant. I am looking forward to seeing my family before the baby arrives so will go see them for a few days. My dad has his 60th and my brother his 30th next year so we would like to go on holiday as part of the celebration. I don't think we will be going anywhere longhaul with a young baby though, hopefully we can get to Spain. I don't begrudge anyone else going though, my youngest sister has booked a trip in the uk and one abroad this summer, I hope she gets to go.
