Am I the only one with no holiday booked or planned?

It appears everyone else, especially on MN, has a holiday booked or planned for this year.

Am I the only one who has no holiday booked or planned?

Feeling very down about it Sad

Nothing booked here, want to visit family abroad but don't think I'll have enough leave to cover any quarantine. So gonna wait and spend the summer having a bit more of social life where I live once vaccinated.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 06/05/2021 21:19

Sorry to hear the whitecat Flowers
I hope your wedding day is very special.

BikeRunSki · 06/05/2021 21:20

Us neither, too many loose ends and uncertainties to commit to a urging, regardless of Covid.

Bonariensis · 06/05/2021 21:22

No, happy to just have time off at home and chill.

Ohcrapbags · 06/05/2021 21:24

We haven’t had so much as a night away in 6 years and I can’t see a time when we will be able to afford to go anywhere.

DenisetheMenace · 07/05/2021 06:58

@DenisetheMenace your comment is very unhelpful. It's not possible for me to just "book one!" confused“

Sorry, wasn’t meant to be. (You gave no context).

dontcallmelen · 07/05/2021 09:42

@bloodywhitecat

We haven't, we get married in two weeks and haven't booked a honeymoon even. We have no idea how well DP will be as he has terminal cancer so...
Very sorry to read that, I hope you have a wonderful day 💐
Lilmzsnowflake · 07/05/2021 09:47

No, and unlikely to bother now.
Had nothing booked that got moved from last year and prices are now going crazy.
Add in the restrictions that are still likely to be in place, or at the very least the fact that UK destinations are going to be rammed, and I’m in no hurry to join them.
The recent threads on the hoops some owners are requiring their guests to jump through around cleaning and arrival/departure times makes me feel that I would rather just stay at home. If it’s not nice to go out and not nice to stay in then why bother?
Might do some day trips with the kids over the summer, but none of us are keen on doing things that aren’t back to normal.

I agree that among my friends I seem to be the only person who isn’t going away though!

Pheebs2021 · 07/05/2021 11:45

I haven't anything booked, the prices are going sky high from what I've seen I'll continue to hold onto my money until the initial excitement has died down as much as I'd kill for an holiday I'm not paying massively over inflated rates

shumway · 07/05/2021 11:49

Nothing booked. Used to go on about two or three a year.

SingleHandSue · 07/05/2021 11:51

No, nothing booked here.

We were going to go somewhere last year for my 40th but COVID happened.

We haven’t been away since 2017 and that was only a short caravan break.

I’d love a holiday abroad as I’ve never been anywhere outside of the UK, but think it’ll be a while before it’s affordable for us.

gannett · 07/05/2021 11:58

No.

I go on holiday to relax, get a taste of another place's lifestyle, go to restaurants and bars and museums as I see fit.

Would love to do all that again but no desire to juggle restrictions and limitations, not to mention travel/quarantine uncertainties. Happy to wait until I can travel properly again.

Parky04 · 07/05/2021 12:03

I'm going to Dartmouth in May, Lake District in June, Devon in July and Amsterdam/Cologne in October. Can't wait!

Dazedandconfused10 · 07/05/2021 12:05

No, single, alone, seems a bit pointless to book a holiday when social distancing etc will make it harder to meet people.

WildRosie · 07/05/2021 12:09

I'm furloughed just now and I haven't booked any of my leave for this year; I might find it's partly been allocated for me by the management when I'm back at the office. But I'm not planning on going away anywhere. In fact, I haven't been for a proper holiday away since 1999.

You are not alone Smile.

MoiraNotRuby · 07/05/2021 12:11

Haven't booked anything, don't even want time off work at home because my finances are such a mess. If I have time off I will have to deal with them. So I'm just being an ostrich about it all.

Londontown12 · 07/05/2021 12:12

Nope ! I’m waiting til I can book up and relax and look forward to no restrictions 😌 x

BrieAndChilli · 07/05/2021 12:13

nope no family holiday booked here.
I do have a weekend in a yurt booked with a friend and our DDs and DH is going to peak district for a weekend climbing.

We did buy a house this year though so all our money has gone into that plus MIL lives north Devon so we will probably go and stay with her for a bit.

WhatHaveIFound · 07/05/2021 12:16

No holidays booked for us either. DH and I were talking over where we'd still like to visit in the world and I normally love to research holidays but there didn't seem any point at the moment. Happy to stay at home so i've just bought a new bike instead.

namechangefornaming1 · 07/05/2021 12:18

Nothing booked and unlikely to do so. Just about to have a baby, so DHs leave tied up with that. No desire to juggle restrictions quarantine etc. Neither of us have been vaccinated. Managed to go to Greece on postponed holiday last October and was very stressful wondering whether we would be going or not last minute. Would rather save our money now and go on a special holiday next year or the one after. Only thing I can see us doing is a cottage break in the Autumn.

Insert1x20p · 07/05/2021 12:21

Nope, live in an Asian city state with a 21 day inbound hotel quarantine, so to go on vacation I have to then spend 21 days in a hotel room when I get back with the entire family. Um, no thanks Grin. I envy you Boris' slightly laissez faire border policy.

emmathedilemma · 07/05/2021 12:22

No I don't! I've got a weekend away at a wedding and I'm thinking I'll try and tag something onto the week after that but i've got so many friends and family that i haven't seen for a year I think I could use all my annual leave seeing them. I'm somewhat horrified by the prices - I looked at a self catering site I stayed on last year and cabins were about 50% more for the same week.

Keepyourdistance000 · 07/05/2021 20:21

No, we're not either. I feel this year it'll either be messed up by Covid or too busy and neither is appealing to me! I am saving my money and thinking about 2022.

Have booked some nice local things though.

AcornCups · 07/05/2021 20:26

No, we will possibly have a week long break in the UK but nothing booked. We will probably hire a canal boat which we have done before.
