Any dentists around? What on earth is this on my gum? Worried.

With apologies for the dreadful photo, I’ve got a little red lump on the gun between my two front teeth.

The gum feels swollen and tender.

I’m worried I’m getting an abscess or something dreadful.

Help! Sad

It’s an epulis

Rainallnight · 06/05/2021 18:56

A quick Google says that doesn’t sound great.

And @RobinHumphries, do you mind if I ask, are you a dentist?

You need to get a dentist to look.

You might need antibiotics. It might well need further investigation It might be nothing to worry about
But mostly someone who knows about these things needs to actually look at it

Rainallnight · 06/05/2021 19:29

You’re right, of course. I’m just fretting!

Tell them it’s urgent and your in pain They should have emergency slots

postitnot · 06/05/2021 20:08

How long has it been there?
Keep it really clean by brushing and flossing gently. Might settle down but no harm in getting your teeth and gums checked

Rainallnight · 06/05/2021 20:21

Just this evening, but the tooth felt sore today.

Is there something caught under the gum? Might floss out

ketchupandmayo · 06/05/2021 23:04

I had tooth pain. Called and within 5 mins had an emergency app for later that day. They even called me up to offer me an earlier appointment. Got given antibiotics and was sent on my way.

Gertie75 · 06/05/2021 23:15

Looks like a white spot, probably something stuck and got a bit infected (not a dentist BTW)
Nice teeth too.

Thanks for all the advice. I gently used an interdental brush dipped in Corsodyl last night and it’s about 90% better. I’m still going to ring the dentist for a check up (long overdue because of Covid!

@Rainallnight, did you get it checked out? Was it an epulis?
