Any taxidermists or people that know about tortoise shell around?

I picked up a scute of a turtle shell on the beach (not UK, most likely a green turtle)) it must have been in the sea for a while as it has squiggly lines like something walked on/ate it. It is beautiful and I would love to preserve it. It curled up when it dried out but when I put it in a ziploc bag with water it ‘relaxed’ again. How do I go about preserving it? Should I polish it with some sort if wax or oil? It’s about as think as an Ikea kids’ plastic cup. Thanks x

Sorry no advice here but I'm a keen fossil hunter and I know that some sea creature remains are illegal to keep (in the UK). If you are UK it be worth a google to be on the safe side Smile

Thanks Orangesand, I am in Asia. I was picking up beach littler and thought it was a piece of plastic at first. The people with me (that would know about these things) didn't think it would be a problem to take home. It’s a bit bigger than my hand and apparently turtles can shed these who knew?!
