Job interview video tips please

Hi

Can anyone give me any tips. Are there any must/mustn't do/say?

I've been asked to prepare a 2 min video for the présélection introducing myself and why the job would be a good fit. (Not why I'd be a good fit.) They liked my cv.

The company is American bought last year by a British group. It's for a remote post and I'm in france.

It's for a customer care role in edtech. I'm good at the job. I have really good customer feedback. But I'm 50. Might look 45 but not 25!

I'm currently doing a micro masters online. 10 hrs a week. Would you mention that or not?

What software would you use (Camtasia?) computer camera/phone camera?

Congrats on the interview - I had to do a similar pre-recorded video 'pitch' thingie last year for a job - have to say I found the whole thing very awkward and cringy but I got the job so I guess it can't have been too bad (or maybe everyone else was just as bad)! I just used the normal camera and video recorder app on my laptop but if you have something fancier then why not use it? 2 minutes is quite brief and you won't be able to fit very much in at all - I had to do 10 which felt like a lifetime Blush. So I would write out max 3 bullet points for yourself to talk around, but when you record the actual video try and make it seem natural and as un-stilted as you can manage, don't read from a script in a robotic tone - smile and remember to breath between sentences!

Try and look into the camera to make 'eye contact' with the viewer, rather than at yourself on screen as if you do the latter you'll look as though you're looking at the floor/your feet. If you want to have your notes/cue card available stick it onto your monitor at eye height. Good lighting and a plain non-distracting background are musts!

I would mention the masters if it's in a subject relevant to your job otherwise I'd save the airtime for extra career history/skills/experience related stuff.

Good luck!

Thank you. I've written a script and I'm going to practice it till it looks good I hope. I'm sure there must be some kind of teleprompter app out there!

I'll try different versions till I get something I like

One last question is how did you send it? They've not specified. Link to YouTube maybe?
