Polling stations are encouraging everyone to bring their own pen or pencil for voting with. Don't forget!

Apparently they will have some anyway for people who didn't know, but please spread the word.

OOh the excitment! I have just voted with a biro for the first time!

BarbaraofSeville · 06/05/2021 11:16

Polling station on the news had a big box of little Ikea style pencils, so they won't turn you away if you don't have one, but they might run out?

I voted by post anyway.

SquirmOfEels · 06/05/2021 11:18

I forgot!!!

Remembered last night, but it went clean out of my mind this morning.

So I am now the proud owner of a taxpayer-funded little white pencil

They had them when i went

Covid apparently came as a surprise to the guy in front of me - as well as a pen/pencil you also need a mask, unless you are exempt.

Ours allowed people to borrow a traditional stubby pencil but they had a separate bucket at the exit to collect them aftwewards. I guess by the time of the next election they’ll have been quarantined long enough.

Deathraystare · 06/05/2021 17:11

When I was looking through the little brochure they'd posted me I liked the sound of some of the groups. Let London Live - sounded snappy! (I mean the title alone not what they stand for!) But....Piers effin Corbyn??? I don't suppose my effort has done much to change the world but still...one can dream!

It is just really around the corner from me but because I get breathless, it took forever to get there. Then we had to go out another way, adding a bit to my walk!

Happycat1212 · 06/05/2021 17:13

Can you bring children with you?

TheLonelyCup · 06/05/2021 17:15

My polling station had pencils in individual bags that you could keep.

TheLonelyCup · 06/05/2021 17:15

@Happycat1212

Can you bring children with you?
Yes I took my 6 year old in with me
Happycat1212 · 06/05/2021 17:16

Thanks

Palavah · 06/05/2021 17:19

@Happycat1212

Can you bring children with you?
Yes but there is a box of them for people who didn't bring their own.
JustMarriedAndLovingIt · 06/05/2021 17:24

I’m not voting. Literally no interest and don’t know who any of the people are. Forgot it was on to be honest.

AlwaysLatte · 06/05/2021 17:25

Does it have to be pencil?? I took a pen.

isitjustlockdown · 06/05/2021 17:28

@AlwaysLatte

Does it have to be pencil?? I took a pen.
No a pen is fine
TheLonelyCup · 06/05/2021 17:30

Yes but there is a box of them for people who didn't bring their own.

@Palavah No-one told me, do you think if I go back I can leave DD in the box with the other children? Grin

student26 · 06/05/2021 17:31

When I voted they told me that I could keep the pencil or just throw it away! Brand new pencils, absolutely crazy. I took mine home.

eddiemairswife · 06/05/2021 17:33

What happened to the blunt pencil on a piece of string? Has Covid ruined that as well?

UCOinanOCG · 06/05/2021 17:36

I came away with this lovely pencil. I was very pleased with it!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 06/05/2021 17:38

So we can exchange a child for a pencil? I'm in.

SquirmOfEels · 06/05/2021 19:57

@UCOinanOCG

I'm envious - mine's only half that length
