How to shrink a sweatshirt?

I have a very oversized hoodie that is just too big and too late to send back.
Lots of different ideas on Google but does anyone have a tried and tested method? Thanks!!

A wash and tumble seems to shrink most of my clothes.

If it’s made of cotton, you can wash it in a hot wash and then tumble dry it. However, the jersey knit will get tighter and it may feel more stiff as a result.

If it’s made of a synthetic fibre such as polyester, you won’t be able to shrink it.

It will depend on what fabric it is made of. Some fabric doesn’t really shrink at all. Also beware that if it has different fabric contents (if the cuffs are a different composition from the main fabric for example) they could shrink at different rates

Send it to me to tumble dry- my tumble dryer shrinks all my clothes!

I have already washed and tumble dried (though it said not to) and it's still pretty much the same size!

38% cotton
39% polyester
23% modal

If that helps?!

Would a 40 degree wash be hot enough? (Washed it at 30 before only as I thought tumble drying would work?)!

The polyester and modal will be stopping it from shrinking.

Can you just not wear it over-size stylee?
