I think a cat is trying to adopt us!

S/he is very sweet and seems super friendly. It keeps appearing whenever we leave the house and tries to follow us. I've seen it hanging around in my back garden a few times. I just got back home with the pushchair after dropping DD at her swimming lesson and the cat was trying to come in the house and was peering through the glass at the side of the door after I'd closed it ❤️ S/he is so sweet, I hope it has a lovely home already though. My dog is NOT cat friendly and she has a heart condition which is exacerbated by excitement or stress. We don't encourage it at all by petting or feeding, but it seems undeterred and even more determined, if anything!

I know you all like a cute cat thread so I figured you'd like to know Smile

That's a very pretty dcat!!
My dd and her dcats were befriended by a big black dcat.
All good until it sexually assaulted her precious boys!!. Blush
I didn't know dcats did that!!

Put a paper collar on the cat and ask them to call you as you are worried the cat is a stray and keeps coming to you.

Or ask on Facebook local group to have someone come and scan the cat for a chip.

Aww, what a lovely cat! Looks in good condition from your pics so as you say, hopefully has a nice home. I'd also say this is a fairly young cat, just judging by the pics. Does the cat hang around at night or is it just daytime wanderings? If you're worried, you could ask around your neighbours to see if anyone knows where the cat lives or pop a paper collar around the neck with your phone no. on.

It could have been upset by changes in its current home (new dog, cat or baby), so it's checking out other options.

It looks healthy so likely to have a home. Definitely put a paper collar on her (that's my guess) and see what happens.

We got our oldest girl because she kept letting herself in our catflap (this was the days before the joys of the microchip 'if your name's not down, you're not coming in' versions) and when the paper collar method succeeded, the owner phoned me to say that she was probably avoiding their big dog and toddler and they didn't really want her any more, so we could keep her if we liked Angry Sad. So we did and she's still here, 15 years later.

Oh, and it's often very difficult to stop someone else's cat getting it's paws under your table if it's determined to do so.

We've never intentionally stolen or even encouraged anyone's cat to live with us, but once they get it into their minds, that your place might be more to their taste than where it's people want it to live, it can be an epic battle of wills to keep it out, although microchip cat flaps are very effective.

I put the photos on FB and within minutes somebody messaged me and told me she is their neighbours cat. And you are right @BarbaraofSeville, her owners have recently had a baby!

She is lovely

I recently bought a cat cam so I could see ours while I was at work. DS was home one day and I found this on the Colcam

We only have one cat
