What the heck does everyone do with their babies when the weather is like this?

Had one walk this morning but since midday the weather is shocking!

Thankfully I’ve got 4 and a half month old baby to sleep in his pram but when he wakes up ...?!

What do you do every other day? Confused

Lemonelderflower · 05/05/2021 15:30

Have a nicer time than you I think, given just about every post by you I see is rude and unpleasant.

4 and a half month old? Just do what you need to at home but prop them up to see and then narrate to them what you are doing. Read to them. Let them roll around on the floor. Any groups either online or actual proper baby groups with other people?

At that age my DS was happy to do very little luckily but he loved his
Baby Water Play Mat and we had a basket of sensory, light, touch and wooden toys he liked to explore
He quite liked looking at picture books
Oh and watching his goldfish swim
Bath time as luckily he's always liked it
Once plays reopen mine liked swimming (with inflatable seat) and baby areas of our local play centres sensory or messy play sessions

He definitely is better out of the house - was getting very restless and annoyed with me when I tried to sing or play with him.

Thankfully he has fallen asleep!

bakewell I am trying to persuade OH that a small aquarium is just what we need!

It’s a mumsnet standard: do you have a sling? Then you can walk with him regardless the bad weather as you have your hands free to hold an umbrella. Swimming?

Lemonelderflower · 05/05/2021 15:48

I do but he has gone off it recently - prefers to eat it Hmm Smile

Love swimming with him - he has lessons but I’ll ring the leisure centre when he wakes up (I am terrified to move now Grin) and see if they do any baby swim sessions.

Send them to grandparents house and enjoy a hot bath and a nap

mistermagpie · 05/05/2021 15:58

Stick him in the bath? When mine are a bit restless I always find that getting them in water helps. Although my youngest is 18 months now so can play a bit more.

Lemonelderflower · 05/05/2021 15:59

We don’t have that option one, if only Smile

Baths are lovely

My baby is nearly a year old now but her old brother (3) does a lot of entertaining when it’s rainy

On a day like today where the older one was at nursery I’d probably go for a bit of a drive, grab a coffee somewhere under cover.

And probably just embrace the wetness

We often just put on the wellies and waterproofs and head out

The other week we popped to a shopping centre for the novelty factor as we hadn’t been in over a year

It wasn’t that much fun obviously but a change of scenery at least and plenty of snacks and drinks available for me

It wasn’t rude or unpleasant. It’s a fair question.

Do what you do every other day; you didn’t just wake up with a baby this morning and not know what to do with it 😂

Not really a rude question.

What do you do with your baby every day that bad weather stops?

You can still go for a walk. See the ducks, look at the pigs etc.

It's not like your 4 month old likes the park and he's itching to run around and let off some steam?
