I didn't watch much of either.
My partner, brother and work colleagues, were all raving about Breaking Bad, but they said it takes a while to get going, I watched a few episodes and decided it wasn't for me. Similar situation to Orange is the new black.
But if you are looking for something to watch which is a little dark yet entertaining thriller and you haven't already watched it - which you may have done as it was released in the UK in 2007 and was available on Netflix for quite a while. Then I highly recommend Dexter - I absolutely loved it (except series 8 was disappointing) but they are currently creating a new series and I can't wait for it to come back! You can't help but love the main character who is pretty twisted. Not sure where you can watch it now, but I would imagine it wouldn't be too expensive to purchase the whole 8 series or I think it is currently on Sky and Now TV if you have either of them.
You may also find Grimm, which is another American crime drama, but with fantasy involved, I'm not a huge fantasy lover but was gripped with Grimm, I can't remember why we stopped watching it to be honest, but we got quite far in. Another fairly old one you may have seen, as it was released in the UK in early 2012. Not sure where you can watch it now though, another one that was removed from Netflix.
I'm quite enjoying Perception on Disney+ Star at the moment, it is a very light crime drama, with the main character who helps a federal government solve complex cases. I'm sad to see that there was only 3 series though with only 39 episodes.
I also started The Flight Attendant, which I need to finish, which is pretty decent so far, from what I have seen, but only 9 episodes have been released so far which is all of series 1.
Sorry @GloomyWaters not exactly answering your question, but thought I'd recommend some others you may like, if you are able to watch them and haven't already seen them.
I hope you can get into a series that grips your attention
