Woke this morning and sharp pain spasm on the right side of my neck.

Got water bottle on area and taken 2 ibuprofen. So painfulAngry

Ive done an exercise to help stretch.

Anything else anyone would recommend?
Found some naproxen in cupboard but 3 years out of date

Ouch. I find Volterol gel (the stronger one from the pharmacy) is helpful. Not sure if you can take alongside the ibuprofen though.

DD had such a bad neck spasm that I ended up taking her to A & E (she had had a bad bang on the head a few days earlier and I was worried.

They gave her a muscle relaxant, and said that if it happened again to give her some mebeverine. It is an anti spasmodic treatment for IBS but can be used as a general muscle relaxant.

You can buy mebeverine OTC.

Interesting @RampantIvy

Labyrinthitis started as neck pain for me and I still get neck twinges two years on. I'll try that stuff

If you have a spasm you're not supposed to "go into the pain". So be careful about stretching and exercising the area. It needs to heal. (My physio told me this.)

Orange tiger balm (hot to be the £4 jar - the cheap stuff is cr4p) and a heat pack down your spine

Syndol has a muscle relaxant in it.
