Work leaving gift not arrived

I left my old work about 6 weeks ago and was told there had been a collection and that ‘something’ would be posted to me. Nothing has arrived. It now leaves me in the awkward position of not knowing if it’s been sent and them thinking I’m being rude for not acknowledging it or I’ll have to email them regarding it (to see if it’s been sent) and look grabby.

Ironically, I wasn’t even bothered about a pressie. They’d done a lovely personalised card and I nearly fell off my chair when they said there was a present too. Now I’m stressed!

Any ideas?

Have you got any mates there you can text to find out for you?

elQuintoConyo · 05/05/2021 06:37

Just ask. Who cares if you look grabby, you don't work there anymore. Not that I think it looks grabby.

Besides, would they expect an email to say 'thanks for X gift, I'll use it every day' or something?

Just ask, you have nothing to lose.

I would message someone stating that your not fussed if they didn't get you anything but you didn't want them to waste money if they had my mom recently thought that I only sent her a card for mothers day her gift hadn't shown up at all it was only when I asked she told me

There was no-one I was particularly close to really. Plus, I deleted myself from the group WhatsApp months ago because it was supposed to be social but the boss kept asking us to do work at the weekend 😂 Thanks for the suggestion though.

I think you should ask. Something polite and friendly. why not? It may be sitting in someone's desk somewhere.

CauliflowerSneeze · 05/05/2021 08:55

Oh God, looking at it, if I contributed and did have any acknowledgement I'd be a bit pissed off, if you hadn't received it I'd be pissed off for you
You are going to have to contact your boss if you can
I wouldn't want anyone to be out of pocket

HappydaysArehere · 05/05/2021 09:34

I would explain that you were worried that there had been a problem with the post so checking that they hadn’t sent something to you. Say someone mentioned sending something so checking as you would hate not to acknowledge anything sent.

What about emailing and saying. Hi I had a missed delivery note through my door, wanted to check whether it may have been the leaving gift you were sending? As I'm not expecting anything else. Or whether I should ignore the note as one of the latest scams.

Do you know what... I really think this is a tricky one. What if nobody bothered.
