Will i be considered for a job

Finally ive got a few job interviews simce leaving work a few years ago..

Im only going for part time work but im worried that they wont consider me when they find out my children are in school.

1. I havent got a clue what i should say during the interviews
2. How do mums work around term times, school holidays.

Why wouldn't they consider you with children in school?

I recruit and I wouldn't put that against you.

Do you have a partner? Maybe you could split your AL to cover the holidays?

Holiday clubs etc.

I like people to ask me questions even if it's just basic things. Shows a bit of interest.

Eh ? Firstly why / how would they know
Secondly why would that effect whether you can do the job or not ?

Generally, answer the questions they ask you.

2. How do mums work around term times, school holidays.

Just the same as Dads. They arrange childcare.

Know a bit about the company and why you are applying for the role.
Have some examples of work you have done in the past so you can tell them about your experiences confidently and in detail.
Believe in yourself

If they are advertising for PT workers and the shifts are what you want then the chances are they won't be holding that against you ;)

School doesn’t come into unless you have no one for childcare.

Research the company your working for so you have background, look up general interview questions (how do you cope under pressure, what’s a mistake you have made at work and how did they rectify it, prioritising, etc)

You would need help with childcare is working through the holidays etc. Of course you would entitled to annual leave but you can’t take it in one go.
If you don’t have child care your best trying to get something in a school setting to get the time off.

They shouldn't ask about your DC. I used a childminder in the holidays and holiday clubs.

Thank you for your suggestions, im just worried due tho the entire corona lockdown and schools sending kids home, i might not seem reliable as someone with out children.

My husband works full time and sometimes stays away.

I guess im just nervous bevause ive been out of work for a while and i worry alot 😅

Well that can be a question to ask them! ‘What’s in place for employees when their child has been sent home to isolate’ sort of thing
Interviewers loved to be asked questions!

And also, it’s only natural to worry and esp if you haven’t had an interview for so long!
A lot of interviews these days seem more of a ‘chat’ (still questions obv) but not as scary as a massive formal thing.
Be yourself, answer every question, ask them a question, and your all good!
