What did you buy your second child for their first birthday?

Dc2 is coming up for their first birthday and all the family are asking what presents to buy.

I have no idea as we have toys left over from when firstborn was this age

It would be lovely to have something special just for them but I hate waste and buying for the sake of it

I’m setting up premium bond accounts for both children but many want to buy a physical gift.

What did you get your second child for their first birthday?

My first son walked early at 11 months so didn’t get many push/sit on toys and when I had my second son, he wasn’t walking yet so he got a sit on truck and a push along dog with handles.

Money or vouchers toward a day out? Kids farm, zoo etc?

New garden toys with summer coming, slide, swing, paddling pool.
New bath toys.
A new ball, you can get ones with different textures.

Something they may use over coming months like a push along trike.

Their own small back-pack for days out.

A hooded bath towel - you can get animal or character ones.

Books. You can't have too many books.
Clothes. Unless your first was the same sex, born in the same season there are probably some wardrobe gaps even with hand-me-downs. Or you could ask for something personalised - they won't care now, but when they look back at photos they'll see that they had something for themselves and not just hand-me-downs.
Garden toys is a good one.
Something for their bedroom - mobile, rug, nightlight etc.

He got a sand/ water tray and a wheelbarrow. We had moved from an inner city flat to a house with a garden so didn’t have any of those kind of things.

A ride on identical to the one she always made a beeline for at baby group. It was a big hit.

And a year pass for the zoo (well, that was for me, babies don't pay) but it meant we could go often, and she loved looking at the animals.
