Personal alarm for elderly dad - recommendations?

My dad has got to the stage where he needs one of these, but he lives in a large old house with thick walls in a village with terrible internet connection. Does anyone have experience of an alarm that works in these circumstances?

My parents had one through AgeUk - no internet required, it was over the phone

I bought this for my mum. It has a tracker and an sos button and an alarm goes straight to mine and my dsis phone. A lot cheaper than other systems.
