What are your 6 year old boys playing with?

Need ideas for a birthday gift please!

Haven't seen this little boy much since the first lockdown so I'm not entirely sure of his current interests, but I do like to try and come up with something without asking his DM (struggling this time though!)

Budget ideally £10ish but would go to £15.

Lego, get on ebay/facebook and buy second hand, so much cheaper.

beyblades (though maybe not for 10pounds. you could prob get 2nd hand though)
nerfguns (though I would check with his mum on that before buying)

tie-dye sets/anything crafty thats also messy (although I would also check before buying)

board games/card games

I would still double check though that he would like those things as by the time they are 6 their tastes can vary a bit. I would have thought a football/basketball or outdoorsy toy is a fairly reliable gift (for most girls as well as boys)

Mine loves balls, frisbee, giant bubbles, Lego (he likes the Lego magazine you get a tiny set stuck to the front), jigsaws, board games such as Guess Who/Orchard Games.

Oh and those t.shirts with the sequins that change colour when you rub the downwards.

My ds6 loves Minecraft so any Minecraft merch would go down well, a Tshirt, Pj's or stationary.

Also lego or a craft set.

He also enjoys novelty bath stuff, like crackle bath and bath slime etc.

Actually the gift my son played with the most from his 6th birthday was probably a cheap multicoloured recorder. He played it loads. But would only recommend if you secretly hate his parents.

Mine has asked for and is getting water guns for his bday in June.

I have a 7 year old. In the last year or so his favourite things have been- Lego, Pokemon, dinosaurs, Dogman books, games like Frustration, Dobble, Top Trumps, kids puzzle books, toy cars especially Hotwheels. In the pre Covid days when we were constantly at 6th birthday parties we got Lego a lot if we weren't sure what the child would like.

A football would go down well with mine for that price.

They like remote control cars. Nerf guns. Football magazines.

Toy planes, buses and trains still very much the favourites in this house. (Looks despairingly across a carpet strewn with toy vehicles .) Brio and Playmobil occasionally. Has no interest in Lego at all - clearly my kid is a bit of an outlier

Dobble is a great game for that age, as is Uno

Battleships too (but may be a bit over your price limit)

Crafty stuff - the how to draw books are really fantastic. Google ‘step by step drawing usborne’ and you will see the selection. You could buy some drawing pencils and a set of colouring pencils and still be in budget. I would 100% recommend them for any child, whether arty or not

Rhino Hero is a really fun game and unlikely to have (it's German but we have the UK language version). It's a cross between competitively building a tower of cards with Uno rules thrown in.
