Kitchen colour ideas for dark kitchen

We’re having an extension which will leave the new kitchen in a dark part of the house. What colour cabinet & worktop would you go for? We will have a medium coloured wooden floor, will have gloss slab doors for maximum light reflection. But we can’t decide on cabinet and worktop combination.

Everything in my kitchen including floor files, cupboard doors, tiles, etc is white. I love it! I have a few other touches for some colour but I like it because everything is neutral and you can get a new look with accessories.

I've got a north facing kitchen that I had redone a few years ago. I've got cream, gloss slab cabinets with an oak type wood effect counter tops (seems like too much faff to me to have real wood!). The floor is limed planks effect lino type stuff, so mostly white, but with enough deliberate patterning to not show up the grot too much. The two walls behind the cabinets are purple, but not too dark, and the other two walls are a light sandy colour. (Imagine two capital Ls pushed together to make a rectangle - one L is purple, the other sandy colour, and it is the purple one facing the window/door)

One thing I wish I had got done at the time was lighting under the wall cupboards so that the work surfaces are better lit. I do have ceiling spotlights but they are not as good as direct lights would be.

Definitely get good lighting! Under cabinet as well as ceiling/spotlights and as much natural light as you can get.

We have white quartz worktops, with sparkly bits. But also glass splashbacks, all round the kitchen, which keeps it light.
