Inspired by all the LOD disappointment - tell me which shows ended well

My social media is completely full of people complaining that the end of Line of Duty was either rushed or rubbish or both. Same happened with Game of Thrones.

So, which series actually had a strong, satisfying end?

Modern Family ended perfectly for me. It was so simple and just life goes on but we no longer get to observe.

Good place was a lovely ending.

Schitts creek was perfect.

I think usually sitcom style shows get it mostly right with only a few complaints. Not HIMYM though, fuck Ted and his shitty I love robin story.

Longer dramas I usually end up been disappointed by the end don’t know why. Most my shows I’m currently watching haven’t ended so I have the disappointment to come I’m sure.

Oh agree with this - the first time! I hated the last series they came back with after saying it was done, when the first ending was so perfect too. (I didn’t actually make it to the end of the crappy add on series so maybe that one ended up perfect too? )

The Americans and Breaking Bad are the two that come immediately to mind. I also didn’t have a problem with the ending of GOT, but I wouldn’t say it was brilliant at the same time.

Someone mentioned The Affair upthread; this is a weird one, I thought the final series was utterly ludicrous in places, but there was something strangely affecting about the last episode, particularly the inspired choice of music by the The Waterboys which features heavily.

Yep, agree about orange is the new black. I think the series lost its way a bit but I loved how the show gave back and has highlighted the problem with the American probation service basically making it nigh on impossible for ex prisoners to turn their life around. If I remember right the show donated money or set up a charity to address those issues which was very decent of them. Heartwarming.

Dexter was so beyond awful I couldn’t believe it.

White collar, that had a very satisfying ending.

We've just finished S4 of Schitts Creek so it's good to hear we won't be disappointed by the ending!

I never watched Blackadder but I'm told the ending was very moving.

I enjoyed The West Wing right to the very end.

Longmire. It's a cop drama set in Wyoming. Quite cheesy but absolutely addictive and fab/gorgeous actors.

Think it had about five seasons and the final episode was just absolutely amazing. Tied everything up with some much needed closure and some fab surprises. Amazing cinematography and soundtrack too.

Just brilliant telly.

I really wish I could watch it for the first time all over again.

The ending of Breaking Bad was utter perfection.

Dark did well to wrap up a very complex (bonkers) plot; towards the end of season 3 I was worried it would go the way of Lost as it seemed far too complicated to ever resolve, but the conclusion was satisfying (and emotional! Especially Jonas and Martha 😭)

I don’t know if it’s been mentioned yet, but I thought Hinterland ended brilliantly too. Obviously Tom Matthias was never going to be Happy Ever After, but he did get some measure of catharsis and redemption.

Homeland?

Justified. The perfect end, for the perfect characters in the most wonderful of shows. I loved it and miss them like (dysfunctional) family 😁
