Inspired by all the LOD disappointment - tell me which shows ended well

My social media is completely full of people complaining that the end of Line of Duty was either rushed or rubbish or both. Same happened with Game of Thrones.

So, which series actually had a strong, satisfying end?

OP posts:
EnjoyingTheSilence · 03/05/2021 15:48

Schitts Creek, was perfect from beginning to end. I might watch it again!

Candleabra · 03/05/2021 15:53

I read an interview with John Simm after Life in Mars finished that the ending he'd wanted was just a leap off the building, then blackness....the end.

I thought I loved the actual ending at the time, where he went back to the 70s. I think now, years later, that the ambiguity would have been perfect and made the show much better.

HerbErtlinger · 03/05/2021 15:55

I loved Schitts Creek. I laughed and sobbed through the finale, I thought it was perfect

I also thought The West Wing ended well although wasn't thrilled with the Toby Ziegler storyline

The Shield...I binged it last year and just loved the whole thing.
Mad Men
The West Wing....I repeat watch the final series more than the others.
Vikings.

Etsylicious · 03/05/2021 16:00

The Affair
Schitt’s Creek

I loved GoT Season 8. Except Bran.

MozzchopsThirty · 03/05/2021 16:00

@TanteRose I agree the Six Feet Under finale is a masterpiece, I could watch it over and over

Friends

Breaking bad - even though I loved the spin off film

Schitts Creek - just perfect, lovely happy ending, feel good

**

I stopped watching dexter as I couldn't face the reported dreadful end!

End of lost was abysmal, I'm still not sure to this day what really went on

Arrowheart · 03/05/2021 16:02

Mad Men. Perfect.

Arrowheart · 03/05/2021 16:04

Schitts Creek

StateOfTheUterus · 03/05/2021 16:08

The OA.
Schitts Creek

Trayble · 03/05/2021 16:17

Mad men

Sex and the city

The sopranos. I know some people didn't like that ending but I thought it was absolutely perfect.

APJ1 · 03/05/2021 16:19

Yes to The Shield!

EmphaticPeriod · 03/05/2021 16:20

@RachelRaven
Thank you so much for the alternative ending to HIMYM Wine
Far, far better than what they went with. No idea why they changed it.
Am a big Cristin Milotti fan (hence the username - if you haven't seen it, Palm Springs on Amazon Prime is just lovely) and the ending you posted makes much more sense. Thank you.

NotFuckingLadyLike · 03/05/2021 16:21

Six feet under. The best ending of anything I've watched.

Manzana · 03/05/2021 16:28

my favourite is the Detectorists, loved that they found the treasure

RachelRaven · 03/05/2021 16:32

@EmphaticPeriod you're welcome. Ted should never have ended up with robin. Relationships are not supposed to be that hard work. Robin was basically worn down
and settled. And his wife was so perfect for him and she found him funny from the start.

I watched Palm Springs on Friday and loved it. Think it could have been a series though to develop Roy a bit more.

Roonerspismed · 03/05/2021 16:33

I really liked the ending of Homeland. Perfect and clever

EmphaticPeriod · 03/05/2021 16:41

Palm Springs became my favourite film of this year after one sitting - but have subsequently watched the asking to dance scene and the ending about a 100x since then Grin.
As to good endings, I agree that The Middle and The Good Place ended well and would add Superstore and original Scrubs to the list.
Utopia (the original) ended far too early for me but the end of series 2 at least came full circle.
I quite liked the end of Sex and the City.
I hated Lost with a passion and wasn't that keen on Ashes to Ashes although it has grown on me since. The Life on Mars UK ending at least wasn't as literal as the USA version! Grin

bonfireheart · 03/05/2021 16:55

I started watching Palm Springs and got distracted, love Andy Samberg.

Timeandtune · 03/05/2021 17:25

Back in to say YY to Homeland. Some series were better than others but the finale made perfect sense but also left a wee door open for more.

WhyDoesItAlways · 03/05/2021 17:29

Schitts creek
The affair (loved the flash mob)
Cold feet (1st time around)

fluffythedragonslayer · 03/05/2021 17:31

I am very (very!) Much in the minority but I loved the ending of Lost.

Buffy ended well in my opinion too.

HIMYM one of my fave programmes of all time but the ending was disappointing.

The ending of Friends is problematic largely re Ross and Rachel but I still really like it and it makes me cry every time when she gets off the plane, and the very last line when Chandler says "where?" 😭

Wishimaywishimight · 03/05/2021 17:35

I hated the ending to Sex and the City - totally unconvinced by Big telling Carrie she was "the one". It's not the sentiment I objected to, just the words, I don't believe he would ever say that.

susiella · 03/05/2021 18:35

Haven
The Shield
Fringe
Warehouse 13

Candleabra · 03/05/2021 18:38

I like the sex and the city ending. Just really wish they hadn't made the films. I dread to think what the reboot show will be like.

bonfireheart · 03/05/2021 18:38

The ending to Will & Grace was so awful even they pretended it never happened.
