Sonicare tartar remover

I was brushing my teeth last night and I noticed to the side of one of my lower teeth, there is a chalky type of substance. I think it might be tartar. I'm disappointed because I floss and use interdental sticks. I also had a cleaning done in March and my dentist put me on yearly cleanings instead of the 6 months cleans he had me on.

On amazon I saw there are devices like an electric toothbrush but they have different heads. It looks like pointy heads. It says tartar removal.

Do these things work at home? Or would it be too dangerous for my teeth?

It's not a Philips sonicare by the way. It's a sonic tartar remover.

I'm so disappointed looking in the mirror and seeing what I presume is tartar. It's a creamy/yellow white chalk like substance. I'm distraught because I look after my teeth well.
