Can anyone recommend a cheap fitness tracker where you can remove heart rate from screen?

Just as the title says, really!

I would like to buy myself a fitness tracker, as cheap as possible really, just to use as a pedometer to link up with my weight loss app.

However, they all seem to come with a heart rate moniter, but I'm a health anxiety sufferer, and worrying about my heart has always been my biggest stupid worry, and I know I'd find being able to see my heart rate at a glance 'triggering', for want of a better word. So I don't want it on the screen!

I'm fine with the tracker monitering my heart rate, so long as I would actively have to seek out the reading, rather than being presented with it.

Does anyone have any recommendations, please?

Thanks!

I had a Fitbit, one of the Charge models, where you could turn the heart rate monitor off. I suffer from palpitations on and off and have found in the past that being able to see that my heart rate is indeed super fast for no apparent reason quite stressful! So I used to turn it off if I had any episodes.

I now have a Garmin Venu sq. I've been trying to get fit and exercise more, and oddly I'm finding the heart rate and pulse ox more reassuring this time. But then I haven't had any major palpitation issues since having it so that might change! But I've just looked and you can turn it off on that too.

Sorry I've just read back, I'd say the Garmin was definitely a more expensive one (part birthday present here - I wanted one with certain tracking features that wasn't huge on the wrist). But might be a standard feature of their range.

I have a Garmin Forerunner. It was £79. I’m not sure if you’d consider that cheap (it’s certainly cheaper than many). But I don’t think it even monitors heart rate. If it does, I certainly haven’t found where. I use it to track steps and sleep and to record my runs.

You could put a piece of electrical tape over the sensor? Might irritate your skin a bit though!

I have a Mi Band 5, you can customise the screen with whatever but the band itself is a bit slow and crap. I only really use it as a silent alarm clock so does the job for me. Was about £30 and counts steps just fine.

Thank you very much, everyone – I've just seen the Mi Band 5 is £25 on Amazon at the mo so that should do nicely!

@winniesanderson That sounds really stressful! I'm glad you found a way to turn it off when you needed it!
