Upgrade to Shark Liftaway worth it?

Sorry, boring sunday evening thread incoming.

I currently have the corded stick vacuum from Shark. It's good, cleans well but it seems to get clogged easily.

We have cats and 3 shedding girls/women in the house with long hair so our hoover gets a lot of use.

Considered a dyson for about a nanosecond until I saw the price tag Shock

I've heard good things about the lift away, and wondered if it's any better than the Shark I currently have? It's probably 3 or 4 years old now and takes quite a beating tbf.

The corded liftaway is currently £200 on the Shark website which seems reasonable compared to a dyson.

I use one at work.
Prefer my Hetty Pet at home..

I have one and love it. We have carpet to wood floor which is so easy at a slide of a switch. I ha è long hair and we have a long haired dog. Love also how it easily vacuums under tables and low furniture. The lift away is great for stairs.

Do it.
I have two long haired pets and it's great.

I quite like mine. It does a good job but it's very heavy. (And I'm 30s and fit/ fairly strong.) I paid £30 extra for the anti hair wrap thing which I think was a scam because I still get hair wrapped round the innards.

I have two Shark liftaways, different models , they are the best vacuums I’ve owned.
The motorised tool is cracking on stairs.
They have long leads but tend to fall over easily.

My most recent one is such a strong sucky fucker I have to keep the vent open a little or it’s hard to push on thicker carpet. By god it cleans though.

I tend to use mine in liftaway mode all the time.

I've had 2 Sharks and dislike both of them. I really regret buying the second one but the way people rave about them, I thought it must be me or dud model. Clogs constantly and doesn't pick up as well within a few weeks

Miele Cat and Dog, no contest... ours is still going strong after ten years!

I love mine. I live in a townhouse and the life away feature is great for the seemingly endless stairs.

AdobeWanKenobi · 02/05/2021 23:01

I replaced my top of the range miele cat and dog with a shark. Never looked back. Blows it out of the water.

We have two, one upstairs and one down.

Cons:

The electric cord is made from stiff plastic so it's difficult to wind and unwind.

They are heavy to manoeuvre around.

The lift away mechanism is very stiff and dh often has to grapple with it to get it loose.

They're top heavy and fall over onto your foot a lot or slam onto the floor.

Suction is okay as long as you empty it and wash the foam filter out regularly.

Pros:

They're cheaper than a Dyson.
