Why Would 25YO DD Get Vaccination Invite? Worried!

My DD is out of the country (left to travel over a year ago, still away). She's told us to open important looking mail in her absence. Yesterday, she received a COVID vaccination appointment.

This worries me. Currently it's over 40's that are being invited here (in Wales). She's 25. The reason it worries me is that about 18 months ago she was travelling and was assaulted. She came back and had lots of tests that I drove her to. I'm panicking that she may have HIV or something and that's why she's been called early. She seemed to be quite open about everything, but maybe didn't want to tell us if there was bad news.

Is it likely to just be a mistake?

Is there any particular reason you chose HIV rather then admin error as your possible reason?

I considered both, and more... I was more than certain it was admin error (not realising we were so far ahead), but there remained that tiny niggling worry. I did explain why.

@AmberIsACertainty
FFS, haven't tried to find out her personal info!

My question was "is this likely to be a mistake"

In fact I've been reassured that her age group are actually being invited for jabs, so now I am reassured.

Wales here too. Under 30s are being called as they can’t have one of the vaccine due to the blood clots. My 27 year old brother and his friends have call had the first jab over the last 2 weeks. I received my text on Friday, I’m 31.

Good to know @hm246! It's so good to get that letter or text, isn't it?Smile

My 28 year olds son has been vaccinated.

He is fit as a flea, but has a mild underlying heart condition which developed in adulthood.

It could be something like this, a medical condition you know nothing of.

Skysblue · 02/05/2021 17:35

There’s no reason to worry. I know several people who were invited much earlier than their age group and it was basically because the GP had opened a packet of a vaccine that needed to be used asap, so they were calling anyone who was a bit overweird or had had a lung infection as a child / once had a suspected asthma attack etc.

It’s also possible it’s a cock up.

I wouldn’t worry.

Grumpylate20s · 02/05/2021 17:36

I had mine, I'm 26. Apparently it's on the grounds of mental health all depends on local GP practices

muchtoocold · 02/05/2021 17:38

My sister was called (under 40) whilst they were still working through the 60-70 age group in our area. No idea why.

OverTheRainbow88 · 02/05/2021 17:38

Did her assault lead to mental health issues and support? As if so, that may be why.

omg35 · 02/05/2021 17:42

What rubbish! It's been well publicised that Wales are calling up people in their 20s now because there's an excess of Pfizer vaccines here and less Astra Zeneca and they're being cautious about the blood clot threat for 20 somethings. Ps- I'm early 30s, no medical conditions and had my vaccination over a month ago in Wales so doesn't seem that unlikely they're down to 25 now

CantShakeTheWorry · 02/05/2021 17:42

She did have some MH issues not long ago, before the assault. Possibly that was a factor, but it seems I'm just a bit behind the times with the latest vax goings on.

Thank you all.

They're down to late 20s in Aneurin Bevan health board as well just FYI.

TillyTopper · 02/05/2021 17:47

Wales are reported to be ahead in their vaccinations. It's probably just that in your area that's where they have got to. I have a friend in Nantgarw who is 28 and she has had the letter to make her appointment. I don't know where Nantgarw is in relation to you though but it's a good indication they are really getting through them.

fussygalore118 · 02/05/2021 17:50

I'm in Wales and work in public health, lots of the 25-40 are being called in now and in some areas 18 -25year olds!

mindutopia · 02/05/2021 18:05

Dh is 34 and had his about 3 weeks ago. They’re probably just picking up speed more than you realise.

andymoan · 02/05/2021 18:15

My friend in London (who is gay) got a text through from NHS for a vaccine appointment months ago. Like you, he too started panicking that he had contracted HIV and hadn't been told and was worried. However when he phoned the doctors they had put his weight in as very obese, which he is not. They told him to go ahead and have the vaccine since it was booked.
