Leicester for one evening in June- where to go/eat?

Hello all, we're due to go to Leicester to take DS and a friend to a concert in June. It means that DH and I will have a couple of hours in Leicester to find somewhere nice to eat- could you recommend a nice restaurant? We're not looking for anything that requires dressing up as we're travelling for a quite a few hours and want to be comfortable- TIA.

San Carlo or Bill’s

Barceloneta on Queens road, tapas, really lovely. Avoid the soulless chains in the town

Thanks both, I'll look at all three.

I’d second Barceloneta, but also add OGGi, Italian, on the London Road. Both are quite near DeMontefort Hall, which might be where the concert is? In that area, along the London Road are restaurants, mostly Asian and good quality.

Where's the concert? If it's at The Curve then there's a fab Indian restaurant over the road (chutney Ivy). If you want more authentic Indian then Kayal or Herb (for veggie food are fab). To be honest you can't go far wrong for a curry in Leicester.

If curry's not your bag then The Case in hotel street is fab (and has a great champagne bar underneath).

Please avoid Bills or San Carlos.

If you are at De Montford or the O2 then I would second Oggi. Excellent Italian food. Chetinaad is also nearby and does lovely Indian food. Barcelenetta was amazing but when it reopens it will be under new management so a little unknown at the moment.

Yes! Barceloneta. Very yummy. They also have a nice bar next door ‘Bar dos Hermanos’ which does cocktails.

If you like Indian food, Kayal is superb. The restaurant is close to the station and the menu is South Indian, with dishes from Kerala including lots of seafood. Highly recommended.

They also have a vegan restaurant just up the road, called Herb. Also superb.

Bistrot Pierre in the city centre is also very good.
