Travelling and home schooling?

Can you take your kids out of school and home school whilst travelling? Looking into this possibility but don't know the "rules". Any advice please?

No idea on UK rules but just a recommendation to check out The Bucket List Family on YouTube if you haven’t already (they’re American but do exactly this). Following with interest as it’s something we’ve spoken about for the future!

Thanks @AtLeastThreeDrinks I've just had a look at YouTube, wow!! What an amazing family! Need to make this happen.

You don't have any curriculum to follow while home schooling so I don't think there are any rules as such. Only that you have to provide an education, which is a very broad term. You can do it wherever you like. There are a few families who do this on social media and live out of camper vans etc

You need to de register your dc from education rather than just keep them off though, losing your school places but doesn't sound like this is a problem for you

You can, your only responsibility is to ensure that your children receive an education. Your LA might be able to help you. You’d have to give up your school place if you already have them and reapply when you’re ready to have your children back in school.

Of course you can.
The only issue you will need to think about is what happens when you stop travelling.
If your DC are at school now then they may not be able to simply return to school.
They’re your kids you can do as you wish. But once they’re out of the system it may not be so easy to het them back in. School will not hold their places for them.
They will have to be deregistered.
How long were you planning to go for? Is homeschooling something you could keep up indefinitely.
The age of your kids would also be important.

Thank you everyone. We've sold our house in our current location and are planning to move to another location anyway so not a problem re losing school place at the moment.

We are thinking this is the perfect time for us to do this as we need to set up everything again anyway. We are self employed and can work online.

Internationally? In theory yes , but travelling is going to be limited and risky at the moment. Good insurance policy a must and be prepared to isolate and/or quarantine which may impact on bookings.
