Match making on First Dates

Does anyone know who/how the match making gets done on First Dates and First Dates Hotel (Channel 4)? Has anyone been involved?

I have watched it for years and each episode I am shocked at how well they match people both in hobies, interests and looks.

Is it an algorithm or good old fashioned a person wading through the applications?

Old-fashioned matching by hand. People are first cast, as not everybody who applies we get on. When they are thought to be a good contributor they will then either match them with someone else who is already in the bank, or wait until the good match comes along.

I always wonder this too are there lots of set compatibility questions or more an instinctive sense that people will fit well? Also how do you judge whether people have similar enough level of attractiveness?

My dp knows someone who was on the Hotel a couple of series ago

She fell for her match and they are together today still !
