Hi, I see so many posts on fb of people visiting their parents for a few days. One Just now off her visiting her parents in Wales and staying till Monday. Not in childcare support bubbles as most haven’t seen their relatives for months. I understand they want to see their folks but thought no indoors visits until 17/05? A friend went over to stay for a week during Easter hols
Guess I’m just envious as haven’t seen my parents for over a year ( living abroad)

No - I don’t think so. 17th May at the earliest for England?

Bagelsandbrie · 01/05/2021 12:19

I don’t think anyone is following the rules anymore. You’re not supposed to until May 17th though.

(We haven’t been to or seen anyone, we’re hermits anyway)!

No not officially or legally. You aren't allowed in any ones house at all yet. Outdoor rule of 6 or 2 households still applies. I too know several people off to visit family for the Bank Holiday, some are staying in SC accommodation but some are not.

Purplecatshopaholic · 01/05/2021 12:21

No, you are not supposed to. No, no one seems to care….

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 01/05/2021 12:29

I care

OutspokenNotThatFunny · 01/05/2021 12:35

No not legally. But I've known many to be doing it. I'm not that bothered.
I've had my d sis staying many times here since last year.

idontlikealdi · 01/05/2021 12:37

Next door are currently putting up a tent for their family who are visiting for the weekend.

They've all just gone inside though and I don't blame them it's bloody freezing.

17th may just seems even more of an arbitrary date than it ever did so I really don't care what other people do anymore.

Officially no. Unofficially I think it’s pretty widespread.

AlternativePerspective · 01/05/2021 12:54

No, not until the 17th of May.

I saw my DP for the first time since December yesterday, but we were outside and then he went home (we live 100 miles apart.)

Just because other people do it doesn’t mean you have to. We’re so close right now, and Europe’s cases are still high, so we need to be careful not to end up with another spike which could put re-opening at risk.

Nope but many are. My SiL is apparently on her second overnight visit to friends this month.
