What excuse can I give for being in hospital for a couple of days?

Please don't flame me! I'm having a facelift later this month which is going to require a two night hospital stay, after which there's going to be bruising for a while.

I don't want anyone to know except family so what can I say to friends about my hiding away? Work isn't a problem as I've taken annual leave but my friends know I have this leave coming up. They'll know I'm not actually away anywhere so what can I say?!

Just brazen it out and tell them. There should be no shame.

Isn’t it quite likely that you will have stitches in your hair line and a swollen/tight/bruised face? Surely lots less awkward to just say.

It’s your money and your colleagues might spend theirs on holidays (when able), cars, homes with hot tubs and glittery bathrooms,
gambling, alcohol/drugs, porcelain dolls ...their own cosmetic treatments. I doubt they are walking around in sacking while sending huge amounts to covid relief charities so I really wouldn’t worry about that. It’s not a waste of money if it makes you feel better and even if it is a waste of money it’s your money to do what you want with.

First of all it’s your hard earned money . Not anyone else’s business.
Secondly I would keep it vague. Just say ( if you have to) Pierson female problems that need sorting .

Then you are not actually telling lies.

No idea but was told it was standard. This was the 90s though, wisdom teeth removal may be better now.

I must be very different to others on here. I think it’s really rude to tell someone to work on their self esteem.
If you don’t want to tell people, completely your choice. Something dental is a good call. I’d probably go for Covid self isolating. Good luck with your procedure

I'd agree with a dental procedure, doesn't invite questions and can result in bruising.

I've had Botox OP and I told nobody, even my husband didn't notice although I did tell him eventually! I understand how you feel, you don't want people to think you are vain or frivolous or whatever, I get it. It's your face and your money and you don't owe anyone an explanation.

How will they even notice you're not at home for two days? Do they always keep tabs on your comings and goings? You'll still be able to text and call so they won't notice you're not at home. They might notice your face lift though.

TBH I would spend the money on some decent therapy to help you with your self esteem.

Saving for six years for a procedure which you say isn’t going to be noticeable is unlikely to resolve the issues you clearly have with your own self worth.

Definitely this. I hope it does everything you want it to, OP but I think you may have a touch of dysmorphia if you don’t allow anyone to take any photos of you ever.

I wouldn’t notice a friend having two random week days off unless they told me, given I’d be at work myself! I think it’s really nasty to pretend you have a health problem when you don’t. Just don’t say anything. If you lie and then they see you looking different in the face they’ll know you lied anyway.

Wisdom teeth removal. Followed by infection that makes you feel rough and not sociable.

Did you used to be confident about the way you look?

A radically different hair style can be good camouflage for a face lift,particularly if you change the colour and tweak your make up and clothes. A friend went from blonde to brunette over one annual leave and was heaped with compliments on how well it suited her,made her look so much younger etc. No one noticed the surgery.

People will know believe me and then they will be annoyed or whatever that you lied.

Try not to feel bad about spending on something you saved so long for. The ones who should feel bad are the ones spending 100 million on a yacht or some nonsense like that.

Ignore the but "self-esteem", comments. A facelift is no different than getting makeup, clothes, hair style to look nice.

Jaw surgery? Right region and would leave you with the different jaw line you will form a face lift too

I wouldn't ask if a friend/colleague just said 'medical procedure' & didn't volunteer anything else. If you feel yours are a bit more inquisitive say the intimate bit...if you really want to keep them away you could say you were a contact & waiting for negative test result...that would buy you a few days peace & quiet.

Tell them you have have toyboy and are having two wild nights with him.

Tell them you're planning a bank heist and need to start digging a tunnel.

Tell them you're auditioning for Naked Attracrion.

Tell them to mind their own.
