Evening all,

DH and DC are all in bed sleeping and I’m feeling a bit sad and sorry for myself. Anyone else want to chat?

i'm drinking coffee too and wondering whether to go to bed, put the electric blanket on and snuggle up with my book.
What's happening? why sad?

Namechangedforthistoday · 30/04/2021 22:19

Unhappy marriage and lack of human contact over lockdown has got to me.
Was volunteering but I’ve been sidelined now staff who were shielding have come back. Feel quite rejected to be honest. Can’t tell DH as he’d take pleasure in me losing something I care about.

Electric blanket and a book sound great.

Do you want to stay with DH? I know how destructive it can be being with someone who doesn't wish you the best

Namechangedforthistoday · 30/04/2021 23:26

@Frownette no I don’t want to stay with him. I am just trying to get my ducks in a row. Part of that was increasing my confidence and independence by doing the volunteering. Been out of the workforce due to DC and my health so was trying to ease my way back into things and get some current relevant experience.

Frownette · 30/04/2021 23:29

Can you find some other volunteering? Tell me the 3 people you love the most :)

Namechangedforthistoday · 30/04/2021 23:37

I’ve been trying but I’ve received an email to say due to covid training has been delayed until the end of the year. Others are not taking on volunteers due to covid restrictions regarding social distancing and only utilising essential staff.

The only people I love are my dc, that feels really strange writing that down.

Things are nearly lifting now, think 17 May should be turning point.

Strangely enough you could probably do volunteering with covid! Local hospital etc

Unreasonabubble · 30/04/2021 23:45

@Namechangedforthistoday - Sorry! Can't do this with coffee, have to do it with Gin.

I am so sorry to read about your problems. I too have had an enormous lack of physical contact because of Covid. I would love just to have a hug from DS & DD.

Namechangedforthistoday · 30/04/2021 23:55

@Unreasonabubble gin, wine, tea, coffee, hot chocolate all good! Bizarrely I don’t think I’ve tried gin on its own, only as part of a cocktail.
Sorry to hear you’ve not been able to hug ds and dd. Hoping you’ve got a catchup pencilled in. I think as frownette says social distancing restrictions should lift May 17 so there is light at the end of the tunnel.

@Namechangedforthistoday - My DD is 30 on 23rd May so we have the Bank Holiday booked for a family get together. Cannot wait!!!!!

Namechangedforthistoday · 01/05/2021 00:05

@Unreasonabubble that sounds fabulous. Have you picked out an outfit yet?

OP posts:
Frownette · 01/05/2021 00:06

That sounds lovely @Unreasonabubble :)

I don't think it will change very much for me as I'm not tactile sorry Blush but I still have Xmas presents to drop off! What a crazy time

Unreasonabubble · 01/05/2021 00:10

It will be an outdoor BBQ and I think I might need to wear a tent! I broke my back 3/4 months ago and have put on weight as being not physical/active. I am up and walking, also working but... I feel my motivation is not there yet.

I did look at the Debenhams sale online and there was a rather fetching Karen Miller dress that caught my eye. Maybe I have to spoil myself. Grin

Frownette · 01/05/2021 00:13

@Unreasonabubble ah no that sounds painful, how did you manage that? You're doing very well if you're able to get to work etc.

You deserve a new dress.

Namechangedforthistoday · 01/05/2021 00:23

@Unreasonabubble sorry to hear about your back. Definitely treat yourself to the dress, Karen Millen clothing is beautiful. With it being in the sale there’s no reason to not treat yourself. It might help you feel better about yourself and give you the lift you need to get your mojo back.

@Frownette It was so bizzare. Last time (December) we were allowed people in the garden, my sister came with her husband. We sat outside, bar was in the shed and we followed every rule we should have done.

My sister decided to change her drink and have wine, so I grabbed a wine glass from indoors, thought it looked a bit cloudy, so washed it and ran upstairs to get a clean T towel and slipped as I was coming down as I had new boots on that were NOT worn in.

It has been very painful. It has been a real pain in the arse. My Boss has been brilliant - I work in the Office until my back says otherwise.... Then I work from home.

Namechangedforthistoday · 01/05/2021 19:49

@Unreasonabubble that would have given you a terrible fright, thank goodness you are on the road to recovery even if it is a long and winding one.
I’m not sure where in the world you are based but would hydrotherapy be an option? Even an aqua class would help build your strength up(the classes are harder than they look).
I’ve seen lots of devastating injuries from falls, including one where the person only fell down two steps.
That’s great work are being so supportive, it’s one less burden to carry. 💐

I know I t’s not Friday any longer but thought I’d still keep the thread going. For those in the uk, I hope you are enjoying the bank holiday weekend.

What has everyone been up to? We ventured to a local beach and given the weather wasn’t the best, we managed to avoid the big crowds. Nothing like a long walk to work up an appetite for fish and chips in the fresh air.

Not sure if I should open the bottle of wine chilling in the fridge or succumb to dessert

OP posts:
Frownette · 01/05/2021 20:52

Oh how are you all getting on? I didn't realise you weren't in the UK @Namechangedforthistoday, maybe you said in OP and I'm being dozy.

Dress purchased @Unreasonabubble? Sometimes you need something to cheer you up like chocolate/dress etc. I just bought some white tennis shoes which I love, can't do high heels much anymore!

Namechangedforthistoday · 01/05/2021 20:58

@Frownette I’m in the uk I just wasn’t sure if everyone else in the thread was, you were not being dozy in the slightest.

How are people doing tonight? I have a pretty chaotic weekend ahead with all the dc’s activities and having a catchup with a few friends.
