How much chasing do I do?

I had someone come to do an emergency repair. TBH at the time I was desperate and just glad they could come, I didn't ask about the cost.

When he'd done he said he'd email me the invoice. All good.

2 weeks later, I text to say I hadn't had the invoice. He was very apologetic, said tomorrow's invoice day. Another 2 weeks on, nothing.

Is it my job to keep chasing him or do I leave it? I don't like owing money, but if he doesn't want it? I'll pay it whenever it's received but I'd rather not get a bill months down the line and I still don't know how much it will be

I'd leave it, it's not your job to chase him.

You have the email trail demonstrating your effort to get the invoice! I'd leave it for now.

I wouldn't chase again

For my own peace of mind, I'd message a final time and ask again say that if you don't receive the invoice within X timeframe then you will consider it no longer required to be paid. Like you, I wouldn't want a bill further down the line, and I know I'd feel like I should pay even if it was years later!
