So make the next poster choose between two tedious tasks that come with having kids.

I'll start.

Would you rather spend every Sunday morning stood on the side of a football pitch or sat in the viewing area of a swimming pool. Whilst your kid(s) do their thing?

Sorry to miss the point here but I never found anything tedious about watching my children participate in anything.

Mine are all grown up and the time has passed by so quickly, I would love to go back and enjoy those wonderful times again.

Treasure those precious times as once they have passed they are gone forever.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 30/04/2021 11:10

swimming pool definitely, it's warm and not raining.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 30/04/2021 11:11

although I wouldn't class watching swimming lessons as "precious time", more a "FGS lets get this over and done with, so we can get home for tea" time. Maybe it's just me though (all DC are now adults)

GalOopNorth · 30/04/2021 11:12

Football pitch. I like the fresh air

00100001 · 30/04/2021 11:12

You TRULY enjoyed every single moment of watching them in EVERY SINGLE swimming/ballet/judo lesson - any time they went to football training, every single time the rehearsed their music or their dance performance?

You sat there enthralled and in wonder at them.. for hours every week?

pfffffffffffffffffffft. I don't believe you.

next poster - reading a Biff and Chip school book, or practicing times tables?

00100001 · 30/04/2021 11:12

would you rather:

listen your 7yo drone on about minecraft for hours or listen to them drone on about their favourite TV show?

Nightbear · 30/04/2021 11:14

Pool wins for being dry and warm.

’Treasure those precious times as once they have passed they are gone forever.’

I’m off to needlepoint that.

MiddleParking · 30/04/2021 11:15

Sorry to miss the point, and yet...

Swimming pool unless it was a particularly beautiful day!

00100001 · 30/04/2021 11:16

Oh geeeeeez.

Biff and Chip ...

Bake 3 banana breads. at least I get a treat out of it. Pretend play is just you sitting there being bossed around and/or a 6 yo telling you you're doing it wrong.

bake banana bread, unless the pretend play is hairdressers (love having my hair played with Grin).

Either minecraft or TV, I've got very good at pretending to listen so the DC don't notice I'm not actually. Comes in very handy when DD3 wants to "info dump" from her latest podcast, or want to revise degree level chemistry out loud. At least I can ask her if I actually need to pay attention or not now, was much harder when she was 7.

Spudlet · 30/04/2021 11:50

I’ll take the swimming pool, banana bread and minecraft please Carol.

Spudlet · 30/04/2021 11:52

Mine next. Would you rather watch the same Disney+ educational documentary three times on the bounce, or have the entire script of Toy Story 2 recited in your face?

ZoeMaye · 30/04/2021 11:56

Swimming because it's always raining, my DC do both so I get all the time on mumsnet wonder

Biff and chip are awful so times tables. I don't mind doing the maths homework because my DC are good at maths and there is a right/wrong answer which I like.

I would rather tv show than minecraft, although mine aren't into that it's all about Roblox

Banana bread over pretend play. I can see the purpose and their are instructions to follow. With baking I tell the DC what to do, with pretend play they scream at me for not knowing where imaginary things are or what they do. It's very stressful.

I'll have the Disney+ educational documentary so long as I can bring my home manicure kit and sort out my nails at the same time.

Would you rather get weetabix out of your child's hair or chewing gum off their coat?

Spudlet · 30/04/2021 12:00

I’ll take the chewing gum, you can put the item into the freezer and it just chips right off. (Thank you to the little shit who taught me this in year 10 when they stuck chewing gum onto my blazer - may their every shit feel like a hedgehog).

A small bit of self maintenance may be permitted during the Sacred Viewing of the Documentary, as long as you can remain alert enough to make informed comments or answer questions at a millisecond’s notice...

Could you pop it on to a piece of driftwood for me to display in the kitchen?
Spudlet · 30/04/2021 12:02

Would you rather have to flat out sprint to catch your child on their bike during a ‘lovely family walk’ or deal with a dawdling whinge bag when the bike stays at home? (Gosh this is cathartic Grin)

PatrickBatemann · 30/04/2021 12:03

Medal for you!
Aroundtheworldin80moves · 30/04/2021 12:05

Bike

Would you rather sort the socks (including identical socks of two different sizes) or pick up Lego without playing with it?

ZoeMaye · 30/04/2021 12:07

@Spudlet oh good I have perfected the art of nail maintenance and quick fire documentary answers. That's my peak parenting skill right there.

I would rather chase them down than deal with the whinging.

TyneFilth · 30/04/2021 12:10

Pool, banana bread, TV show, toy story.

Stand over your daughter telling her to brush her own hair properly because she wants it long and needs to look after it herself, or stand over your soap dodging pre teen boy for the bazillionth time and attempt to get him to actually wash his armpits, not just waft at them with the corner of the flannel? (NB these are obviously fairly interchangeable, I know there are long haired boys and girls get just as bad BO)

TyneFilth · 30/04/2021 12:13

And times tables, Weetabix, whinging walker, socks. I secretly love sock sorting and most laundry, since understanding kondo folding.

MelissaVonStressel · 30/04/2021 12:16

What would you rather carry all the way back from the park - a balance bike or a scooter?

What would you rather unmash out of your toddler's hair - banana or weetabix?

What would you rather read out loud 500 times - Beast Quest or David Walliams?
