Anyone know about GP processes that can give me some advice?

Bit of an odd one but..

If you register at a GP, does it take you off the register of any other GP you were registered with before? So If I move to the other side of the country and reregister, would I still be registered with my GP from here?

Yes it does as they contact your old gp to transfer your notes

So if a GP contacts someone at an old address, does this mean they havent registered at another GP?

They ask for your NHS number and details of old surgery so I assume it automatically cancels your old registration

It transfers over as soon as you register with a new GP, I transferred my details over to a new GP during my last trimester before the rest of my family and my letters would come to our new address, but the rest of the family's continued to go to the old address for a couple of weeks until they'd registered with the new one as well.

You completely get cut off the whole list.
My DD registered at her Uni GP. When she was home for Covid and needed asthma inhalers our GP, where I had been pregnant with her, where she had had her jabs and been weighed by the HV, refused to give her a prescription. We had to travel to her Uni GP chemist to pick them up.
