I had to submit a business plan leading to a promotion, initial feedback as follows.

Looks good. Makes sense on paper but requires a number of stretch goals. Let’s connect later this week after I have discussed (with senior management)

Is that good/bad/purposely on the fence.....

Any comments appreciated!

I'd take it as a hint to get my head out of the clouds and learn to work with the practicalities, but that I showed promise if I could get filled in on the state of affairs.

God that sounds like something I would get at work.

I'd say purposely on the fence. Not enough to convince the higher ups so open to challenge and wouldn't be top of the promotion list. Not a no yet though and the basics are there.

But sounds like the person who wrote it will take it forward though to at least get you a clearer answer which is helpful. Fingers crossed they can give you a steer.

Thanks both

Politics are running very high here at present. Any tips on persuasion/influence would be very well received....

Targets set are not challenging enough and you need to have a ‘realistic target’ and a ‘stretch target’ that the team can aim for.

Thanks Panda. The context of comment was more the promotion would be a stretch goal for me in terms of new responsibilities and stretch goal for who I’ve proposed would step into my role

Doesn't give much away really. I'd feel like I was in a holding pattern.
