Passing urine every three hours

I suffer from health anxiety and I’m worried that my bladder is becoming weak. I used to be able to go about six hours without using the loo. I now need to go about every three hours. I’m mid twenties.

You know you can just say i need to pee.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 29/04/2021 00:12

Do you need to go 6 hours? Teenagers do it for school but once you're an adult it gets less important.

SavingsQuestions · 29/04/2021 00:13

Seems normal to me. Lots of people go in their lunch break at work or before lunch...

3 hours is fairly normal. Surely you drink more often than that.

GreyhoundG1rl · 29/04/2021 00:21

You know that's perfectly normal, surely?

greenlynx · 29/04/2021 00:25

Do you drink more? Do you drink more caffeine?
3 hours is good. You probably did 6 hours when you drank less.

BurbageBrook · 29/04/2021 00:33

That's how often you are meant to go, if you drink enough. You probably weren't going enough before.

palmstree · 29/04/2021 00:35

I go about this often. I drink a fair bit of water in the day though.

Dddccc · 29/04/2021 00:41

Haha I go every hour the joys of giving birth 3 hours is normal though

DahliaMacNamara · 29/04/2021 00:42

I consider it a result if I can go 3 hours without needing a wee. Always been the same. I wouldn't worry too much.

Pepsimirror · 29/04/2021 00:50

Every 2 hours is normal . You’re supposed to go about roughly 8 times a day ( if you drink the recommended amount). I’ve seen bladder doctors/incontinent nurses and they have said an average of 8 times.

CarmelBeach · 29/04/2021 00:53

I couldn't go 6 hours ever in my life!

There's a reason meetings have comfort breaks.

Were you drinking enough water before?

DipSwimSwoosh · 29/04/2021 06:12

3 hours is normal. 6 is not healthy.

PotteringAlong · 29/04/2021 06:22

I cannot remember the last time I went that long without needing the toilet! I go at least 3 times a day at work. Healthy, surely?

MrsJBaptiste · 29/04/2021 07:41

3 hours is still quite a long time. 6 hours is not good.

ImInStealthMode · 29/04/2021 07:51

I go 2-3 times during my average 6-8 hour working day (plus once before) so that seems about right OP?

Were you not drinking much before, or were you holding it? Neither scenario is ideal and every 3 hours sounds much healthier x

DetMcNulty · 29/04/2021 08:34

I'm currently seeing a dr because i go every hour, and wake up 4 to 5 times a night to go, so 3 hours seems reasonable. Im having to train my bladder, so force myself to wait, even when I feel a strong urge.

I had to keep a bladder diary, so measure how much I need to pee, timings, how strong the urge and what i was drinking. Mine were all really small amounts, 200 ml and less, so need to just build it up, you could always measure what you're peeing and see if seems enough? For context, my friend's a nurse on urology ward, she reckons 800 to 1 litre is more normal.

Purplewithred · 29/04/2021 08:41

With the greatest respect, I think you know your problem is your health anxiety not your bladder. Are you getting counselling/treatment for the anxiety?

Beatinghearts · 29/04/2021 15:39

I’m on the waiting list for therapy but it’s a two year waiting list.
