Listening to DP being nice!

Tonight DP was due to join his weekly zoom meet up with a volunteer group he's involved with. A woman who has been on the team a year or so has planned out a team building/fun night thing for old members and new starters.

Nobody has joined and it's transpired that a few of them have chosen to go down to their meeting place and the rest have just sacked it off, with no apologies.

DP got in from work and joined 15 minutes after the agreed start time to find her just waiting alone Sad.

I'm in the other room (but they are always like foghorns so I hear every word) and he's said to her, so what? We can do it anyway, when she (quietly for her) said I suppose nobody is interested in my exercise.

They're more animated than ever, he's really getting involved and making sure her work isn't wasted. I know he's doing it through kindness and it's just reminded me what a really nice man he really is!

Think I needed to remember that, this last year has had us annoying each other from time to time around the house. Very proud of him right now and for the first time ever I'm enjoying listening to their meet up!

There's no question here from me really unless anyone can relate? Just felt like saying it out loud Grin

That's lovely OP. It's nice to see your DP in that light.

That lovely to hear. It’s good to be reminded sometimes why we love someone.

Ah that's nice to read. She would have felt so deflated.

NCVoyager · 28/04/2021 20:22

That's exactly how she sounded, deflated.

I'm annoyed at the others who didn't join in but I doubt they know she was alone!

I might do a bit less moaning at him based on this little reminder, he's a good one Grin They all are to be honest, so surprised at nobody turning up for her!

She doesn't sound deflated now though, her night was a good one too. Much more interesting than what they usually go on about!

It's boat related, they usually talk about knots or tides or something. She's talking about planning ahead and worst case scenarios Grin. Actually made it engaging to the outside listener (me!)

This is lovely. Good on your DP.
