lost my Royal mail parcel tracking number-give up hope?

I sent 2 returns to fenwicks about 3 weeks ago at the same time and thought I kept the tracking numbers-- I have got one refund but not the other, customer services say they cant look into it without a tracking number which I think I stupidly threw out in error. the refund amount is for £70 . do I have to give up hope of getting anywhere with this? it was sent from my local very busy inner city post office with correct labelling etc.

Does the post office not have a copy?
They have to log them

GreyhoundG1rl · 28/04/2021 17:27

Yes, they should have a copy.

The post office cannot get you your reference number. I'd you've lost it then you've lost it.

We’re sorry, but if you sent your item at a Post Office® and you’ve lost the receipt or the tear-off section from the label, we won’t be able to tell you the reference number.

thanks, I am wondering if to go in and ask them as I know the date and approximate time I was in, they are a very busy inner city post office and not very helpful staff so I know they wont go the "extra mile"

It wouldn't matter if they were a little village post office. They cant and wont get you the tracking number.

If they were sent at the same time the reference/tracking numbers will be very similar won’t they?

Can you try putting in a combination of numbers a few digits either side and see if that brings anything up?

hellosally · 28/04/2021 17:43

thanks Chatanooga 1, I dont have either or the tracking numbers and fenwick say they dont have any record ?

Well, the company you've returned too wouldn't have made a note of the tracking number on the parcel. They get it, they issue the refund. There's no need for them to write down the barcode from the packaging. So if you've thrown both away then I dont think there's anyway for you to find them out.

Without the tracking, you wont be able to prove they did/did not receive the second parcel and you wont be able to claim the loss from royal mail.

It could just be very delayed; it might turn up with them later.

Oh, that's disappointing.

I don’t suppose you paid then Post Office with a credit card because if you did you could raise a chargeback saying you don’t recognise the amount!

The credit card company then contact the retailer, in this case the post office and ask for the transaction details which could then provide you with the tracking numbers!

great thought! it was a free return though!
