Where does your baby take day time naps?

I'm hearing a lot of people say that Moses baskets haven't lasted their babies 2 minutes, we are getting a next to me crib for the bedroom but we were going to get a Moses basket for downstairs for during the day however may not bother with that now if it won't last long. So other than a Moses basket and having to go upstairs and stay in the bedroom each time baby naps (which isn't really convenient) where should baby under 6 months take their day time naps downstairs?

We have a very big sofa, a L shape one so the L is about 4ft long, so he'd have to roll maybe 3 times to roll off. Baby slept on there, on his back, no cushions or blankets with constant supervision. He was a summer baby so didn't need a sleeping bag.

Either that, or he slept on us. He was a baby could rarely be put down so the reality was he ended up sleeping on us, or I was so exhausted I'd be lying down during his nap time in bed with him in the Next2Me.

We also got gifted a Poddle Pod which is similar to a sleepy head which was handy for day time naps on the occasion he'd let me put him down, as it makes them feeling like they're being held. They're not safe for unsupervised sleep, though, so I didn't use it a great deal because I didn't want him getting used to it so much that he'd want it for bedtime and I wasn't comfortable with him using it when I was asleep, too.

Ds 1 normally slept in his pram, as he would fall asleep on a walk but if I tried to move him out when we got home, he would wake up. Ds2 would only fall asleep in the car, but then he could be moved anywhere! So I would move him to his cot. Sometimes I would literally drive around the corner and back so he would fall asleep and I could transfer him to his cot!!

They napped wherever we were - sometimes at home, in the pram or on us. They started full time nursery at six months and they got them into a good sleep routine.

My baby just slept on me and my partner for the first 3 months of their life so our Moses basket was only every used once. Luckily we borrowed it from someone. If you have space downstairs and are going to buy one in the future for travel, you could always use a travel cot for downstairs.

Mine is currently asleep in my arms (3 months). She had a nap this morning in her car seat because we were out shopping, and usually has a nap in her bouncer chair at some point.
Moses baskets are pretty useless. She oy lies flat at night due to reflux. She hated the lcarrycot on the pram and the moses so they basically never got used.

ouchyouchyow · 28/04/2021 13:08

Mine slept in Moses basket for approx 12 weeks and after that was too big.

She liked to nap in the pram, in a bouncy chair, in a sling, car, on the floor in a rug, sofa etc

Usually would fall asleep on me and then transfer to nearest place

ouchyouchyow · 28/04/2021 13:10

Sorry, Moses basket only lasted 8 weeks. Not 12

We had second hand one from friends and bought new mattress. Don't spend much, they're really for tiny babies only

DS only ever slept on me, either when I sat on the sofa or in a sling. DD slept anywhere except the sling; play mat, bouncy chair, pram/carry cot, cot.

Hufflepuffsunite · 28/04/2021 14:45

The carrycot of the pram, in ds2's case. Ds1 wouldn't be put down for naps so he slept in our arms! I also had one of those baby nest things that I thought I'd use loads for daytime sleep but actually I think I used it about twice altogether!

brokengate · 28/04/2021 14:47

Same set up as @TokenGinger sofa in big kitchen or then into pram or buggy put flat. She's four months now and can roll once so I have stopped sofa naps, albeit she was supervised and would need to do three. She's mainly in buggy or pram now.

MissMooMoo · 28/04/2021 15:16

Under 6 months in the pram, my first child basically only ever took pram naps but my second child preferred her cot once we started using that. She's 14 months old and sleeps in her cot in her bedroom now for her nap every day.

OhToBeASeahorse · 28/04/2021 15:21

Hollow laugh...

6 months, in the sling 90% of the time and cosleeps at night. Just dont her nursery up so hopefully we can start getting her to nap in there

OhToBeASeahorse · 28/04/2021 15:29

Done her nursery up - sorry

BigWoollyJumpers · 28/04/2021 15:37

DD's slept in carry cots/prams for the first few weeks, then still in the carrycot were put in their own cot. When they grew out of the carry cot, they went straight in the cot, which they were then used to. We had a big pram though, so still slept in that in the garden for quite a few months until sitting up.
