Quiche- hot or cold?other party food ideas

Do you prefer quiche hot or cold? I always prefer it hot but whenever I go to an event its served cold but I'm not sure if it's because people prefer it that way or for ease?

Also other party food ideas that arent sandwiches?

Cold 100%

Hot! What sort of party? How many?

Ifailed · 28/04/2021 11:42

I don't like it when it's cold and clammy.

Cold quiche is easier as buffet food. Hot quiche can fall apart and make a mess.

I want quiche now!

Cook it and let it go cold. It's tastier then cold from the pack

Hot. The pastry is horrible when it's cold. Maybe small quiches will be more practical than one big one.

Whatever food you do, don't go overboard on processed pork/pastry variants - guaranteed you'll get mini sausages, sausage rolls, pork pies and possibly scotch eggs as suggestions which then leads to the buffet being very samey and if there's any vegetarians they'll get all moany if a meat eater dares to seek out an alternative to processed pork five ways.

Make it about 80% vegetarian and then just have one or two meat choices and put them at one end of the buffet, so most of it is suitable for just about everyone.

Cooked, then either hot or left to go cold. Homemade potato salad and coleslaw, really fresh salad, cold pie.

Big lasagna, chilli, or similar (with veggie options).

Thank you for the replies. it's just a little birthday party with 6 adults and 3 kids. I think I'll do it hot, the replies here are too mixed haha. Definitely cant do mostly vegetarian with my guests, they're big meat eaters but will have a few other bits to

Cheeseboard, crackers, chutney, grapes and celery.

Cook it so its ready just as guests arrive. Then it'll be warm, but neither piping hot nor fridge cold by the time you come to eat it.
Re meat vs veggie, depends on your guests!
Cocktail sausages cooked in a glaze of honey and mustard (go easy on the mustard if it's for little kids) go down a treat and you can do the same for veggie sausages.

I like going a bit retro, cheese and pineapple on cocktail sticks in an orange also popular here!

Plus a fruit platter.

You could buy some (veggie) sushi too. Perfect finger food.

Depends on the weather! But prefer hot.

Fridge cold quiche is rank - it effects the texture. Cook it and leave it to cool - served warm is ideal!
