Hi there,
We made a long distance move across the UK on the eve of lockdown this January. Our Year 2 daughter was due to start a new school on the day the schools were locked down and consequently had a weird first couple of months, joining in Zoom calls with kids she hadn’t met.
She has now been at school since 8th March and has made plenty of friends and the teachers and kids all think she has settled really well, but she spends a lot of time at home crying for her old friends and saying she wishes she could move back and explains that it breaks her heart that they are playing and continuing life without her. Their friendship group was / is incredibly close.
Does anyone have a similar experience? Did their child settle eventually? Her sadness runs so deep that I’m scared she’ll resent us forever for the move.
