If you're a runner how do you carry your phone?

Fed up of holding my phone in my hand!

What are my options? I've seen those armband things, don't they slip down?

I also need space for my car keys as I sometimes drive to the park to run.

Leggings with pockets
Phone in one side and keys in the other
Keys can jingle around a bit so I stuff a bit of tissue in there with them to keep them secure and because the jangling noise gets on my tits after a while

Proper running belts like spibelt, flip belt or a ronhill cargo belt are super slimline (I wear under a tshirt and you’d barely notice)
Way nicer than an armband which I actively hate!

TheMoth · 27/04/2021 19:46

Armband on left arm. From Amazon. Cheap, Bluetooth headphones from asda. Barely even feel it. Can't get leggings or shorts with big enough pockets and even if I do, the weight of the phone pulls my pants down. The armband was a game changer.

And I really really recommend these leggings

They are good lululemon dupes

The fabric isn’t lulu quality but the cut is great and they wash really well

My sports bra actually has a pocket, it's great. I have some leggings with a supposedly large pocket for when I'm wearing a different bra but it's a real squeeze to get my phone in there (and my phone is one of the smaller ones you can get these days) and its way more noticeable when running.

MouseTheDog · 27/04/2021 19:48

I’ve got the freetrain harness thing. It looks a bit OTT but works! I find the belts ride up

Annietheacrobat · 27/04/2021 19:50

Flipbelt under my leggings or rucksack

Myglueattack · 27/04/2021 19:50

I don't take it. My headphones connect to my smartwatch. Re: key I run from home & usually dh locks me out as I run early before school etc... If I need to take a key... Down my sports bra 🙈

TheOrigRights · 27/04/2021 19:51

I rarely take my phone, but if I have to then I either wear my leggings with a back pocket large enough (I think both my Aldi and Sweaty Betty ones fit the bill), or if I need to take more than my phone I wear my SPIbelt.
They're not cheap but I really wanted something that wouldn't annoy me because I prefer to run with as little as possible and when I do have to carry something I like it to be central ie in the small of my back rather than on one side.

I wore it when I ran the London Marathon and it held gels, some energy blocks and my lip balm.
It will easily hold my iPhone6, keys, a bank card and some money and probably a bag of Haribo (never tried!).

Pocket on leggings or a flipbelt.

dizzydizzydizzy · 27/04/2021 19:56

Zip pocket.

Hfjshdhs · 27/04/2021 20:06

Sweaty Betty power leggings that have thigh pockets

MirandaWest · 27/04/2021 20:09

Phone in thigh pocket of my leggings, shorts or skort. They’ve also got a back zipped pocket so if I need to take a key I put it there

MissConductUS · 27/04/2021 20:11

Running Buddy. I liked it so much I got my daughter one. You can get them on Amazon.

My leggings are the same as Thecatisboss linked to. My phone (pixel4a) with slim case only just fits.

mindutopia · 27/04/2021 20:11

I often put my phone in my bra. Otherwise pockets or pouch that goes around the waist.

pickingdaisies · 27/04/2021 20:27

Have a look at flip belt, not the same as a bum bag. It's a stretchy fabric tube, with a slit to slide your phone in, and sometimes a plastic key hook inside too. Then you flip it over so it's held against your body and nothing will fall out. Honestly don't even feel the phone or keys once I start running

Iamblossom · 27/04/2021 20:29

I have an arm strap and it doesn't slip down.

Recently I have been wearing a running waistcoat with pockets and put phone in there, much prefer that but will have to revert to arm strap in hotter weather.

Bugbeau · 27/04/2021 20:30

Leggings with an inside back pocket. Mine are from Nike.

captainprincess · 27/04/2021 20:33

Thigh pockets, game changer! I've used arm bands before which are also fine, but I refer a pocket

randomsabreuse · 27/04/2021 20:34

I have a mini bum bag which can also carry water, a little running vest/backpack I use in winter for layers. My phone fits in the back pocket of my gilet (Aldi) but that argues with keys in my bum pocket.

I'm not entirely convinced by thigh pockets although my leggings in that style are only from Amazon - it's not like my leggings need much encouragement to descend! They do seem ok for a short steady run though.

I prefer to carry as little as I can - which is a lot less for a short road run in good weather than a trail run on snow!

Insertdeadcatsnamehere · 27/04/2021 20:34

Nike running trousers with zip pockets (don't like leggings!)

sunflowersandbuttercups · 27/04/2021 20:35

I have some ASDA sports leggings - £12 a pair, not at all seethrough and they have a thigh pocket for a phone.

I'm a dog walker and find it really helpful to have my phone easily accessible for photo opportunities Grin
